Just a thought:

Beyonce has over 1 million followers and has never Twittered.

Shakira was personally Twittering every day until her song topped the charts. She would say how much she loved her fans. Now she won't even give them the time of day.

The majority of VIP's on social networks never respond to a follower.

I just got contacted by a band on Myspace that can't even fill a club these days with the economy the way it is and they won battle of the bands.

Wouldn't common sense tell you to keep your followers wherever you can find them?

I would imagine a fan base if very important if you want to be successful.
