"A general discussion forum to talk all things Fender, to banter about all things music, and to just jam with your fellow Lounge buddies!"

Well... Then it's time for a jam at the "Mothership", don't you think?? :D

Sunday afternoon was a cold one, and with noting better to do I made a recording over a backtrack I've been having on my hard drive for quite some time. It's a backtrack by user Althrax on SoundClick that I use for jamming around with now and then. A cool funky groove in 97 bpm.

The backtrack is over here: Who you callin' Willis?

My take can be found here: Willis Funk

I used my Olympic White Stratocaster (The 2008 Partsocaster) with Lace Hot Golds (the 13.2k set) and recorded the solo guitar using alternating bridge and neck pickup. OD by the Fulltone OCD.

Let's get this thing rolling! :D

That sounded great! Thanks for the link - I'm downloading the track right now.

If I can make time I'll jump in on this, too... that's a smokin' BT.

Your take is A-OK, Goran!

Sounds great. I just don't know how to do it. :( Do I need to download something? Totally green at this kind of thing.

Thanks guys!

Nice work Tony! Some funky tone you got going! :)

fhopkins: Yes, you need to have some recording device capable of working with or importing files, download the backtrack and import it and record your own thing on top. There's lots of dedicated devices and software to use. I use the Cubase SX software, and I think Tony uses a dedicated hardware thingy (Boss?). Tony's an expert on those, I'm a software man.

I've heard about a software (Audacity I think) you can download and use for free, but I have no experience with that.

Hop, if you just want to jam, download the backtrack to your PC and play along with it.

If you want to post your track, sign up for a free mp3 hosting site like Songramp, Songplanet, Soundclick, etc.

I used to record on a small cassette recorder than run a cable from the headphone out to the mic input (using a 1/8" adapter) using Audacity (free). Here is a tutorial :

Nice track, Goran, I'll be hittin' it after the week's memorial services wrap up. Not listening to any other takes yet!

Thanks guys. I'll have to try out one of the free ones Mike mentioned. I don't think I'm ready to be a recording artist!

Now my door swings both ways  .

For this backing track I used Reaper http://www.reaper.fm/ as the recording software. I have a Edirol UA-4FX USB audio capture interface http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=758&ParentId=114 to plug my guitar into for recording.

I used the free VST plugin 'GreenMachine Amp II' http://www.greenmachine.sealandweb.de/Wurr_Audio_Engineering/Download.html as the amp model/FX.
