I've tried a few on my acoustic and the best ones to me are the basic reverb, chorus, and delay pedals. The brand is more of a personal decision and you will need to try them out. I also think that a flanger, phaser and OD pedal work okay with an acoustic as long as you plug up the soundhole and have good feedback control. I read that Monte Montgomery uses a tube screamer with delay, compression, and reverb pedals and he has a really good sound. I guess it's all according on what sound you want.

I think that kurt cobain had a really cool sound with turbo distortion in unplugged in new york "the man who sold the world" song

I've been getting into this gentleman's playing a lot recently and have sat within feet of his set up at a couple of gigs. All of these resonant and touch sensitive sounds are made with nothing other than a magnetic pickup, a Boss chorus pedal and careful EQ on both nylon and steel strung instruments, I happen to know:

Antonio Forcione: even more sensational than the badly filmed snippets on YouTube suggest...
