I just scored a B stock Digitech RP-1000 multi-fx pedal a few days ago and after several days of totally goofing off with it, I'd like ot share my views with anyone who might be interested.

First, this thing is solidly built, it feels like it'll last a while. Second, like many powerful pieces of eqipment, getting the most out of it takes time. Getting something useful out of it was about a ten minute process first time out: You start with one of the 100 Factory presets, chose an amp/cab combination (and you can mix and match herem like using a '59 Bassman "head" with an '80s era 4x12 cab. Pretty cool, and i thas an noticeable effect on your final tone). Amp modelling can also be bypassed, and the RP-1000 turns into a pretty badass bunch of stomp boxes.

There are 100 user presets, which out of the box mirror the factory settings. Each preset represents a complete grouping of: amp& cab model, plus any effects: compression, distortion, chorus (or flanger, phaser, tremolo etc....), delay ad reverb. Each effect is modeled after a real world example of a given effect, and they can be adjusted as well. ANy or all effects may be swiched on or off within a given preset independantly of each other.

Also, the '1000 can function as a direct box into a mixer for recording, or a stereo splitter to drive stero amps. It has an onboard tuner that supports alternate tunings. It's also got a headphone jack and a 20-second looper that be run off an optional footswitch. The looper is great for my meager songwriting skills because I don't have to play the music (while digging through a rhyming dictionary) trying to fill a verse.

Summary: Good piece of gear. Not a must have piece (like a guitar or an amp), but definitely solid. And a lotta fun to goof off with!

I recently got a digitech rp-90 and it is really a great piece of equipment too. For the price it has almost endless possibilities and is a lot of fun to use just seeing how many sounds you ca create.

I'll have to check out the rp1000, thanks for the info
