I wish you had, because then I would not have atepped in it quite so righteously.

I've been playing guitar in a jazz big band for several years now. It's been great fun and a learning experience. It's also allowed me to meet and perform with players from around the country whom I would have never even met otherwise.

Take up all chances to expand your musical horizons and experiences.; it's always a worthwhile trip.

And I would not have laughed to encourage SlapChop's righteousness. Sorry, dude.

lol, it's all good. I just thought it was obvious that I was just rewording the post that was above mine.

That's what I get for being a smartass.

GB11, jazz like blues has everything to do with what is not played as what is. ie: there is a miles davis pbs show from '59 or '60 that will let you hear as well as see what real jazz is. anything pretty much that you hear from the last 30 or so years is an oxymoron played by former college students trying to imitate (another oxymoron) the past greats. you really want to play jazz that you can feel, shed your skin and go hang with the guys who's only possession is a horn or guitar, empty pockets and a real hard jones. If you can survive and be strong when you come back you won't talk about jazz you will play it.
