As people who love music and make music (or at least attempt to, in my case!), we love all kinds of instruments that make sweet sounds. For many, many years now, I've loved a much different sound from a completely unique instrument: the Can-Am cars of the 60s and 70s; the days of unrestricted race engines putting out 800-1200 hp and more and put into a light-weight chassis; days of Mark Donohue, Denny Hulme, Bruce McLaren and his M6s and M8s, Chaparrals, Shadows, Lola T-70s, and the all-powerful Porsche 917/30 of Mark Donohue, producing somewhere(and no one is talking) between 1100-1500 hp. My user id is actually short for McLaren Mk 8D.Image
While I was reading the usual Speed newsletter, I noticed a video link to Gil DeFerran's drive in a Chaparral at Laguna Seca...talk about sweet sounds...
for your listening pleasure (put it on loud!) and listen to the end(approx 7min) when they open the cars up briefly

I love Laguna Seca. Great track. Watching cars (and bikes) attack the cork screw is one of racing's joys. Nice.

The Corkscrew at Laguna Seca, the street course of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Mulsanne Straight at La Sarthe and the run uphill to Turn 1 at La Source at Spa-Francorchamps are 4 of the greatest places to run.
