If I woulda, coulda, shoulda, kept all those guitars I used to have, instead of selling and trading them off, I could retire today on the money they are worth today. I made the mistake of telling her about the Strats and Teles and tweed amps I used to have back in the 60's and 70's that I paid anywhere from $100 to $400 for, and now they are worth 10 times that. She doesn't understand the "vintage" market and why things are the way they are and values and demand and the whole gambit. She said I was a dumba** for getting rid of all that stuff. Of course she forgot about all the times I had to sell a guitar to pay a bill, or selling a guitar to help buy some "family item". She likes the money the playing in bands brings in, but she hates to see me spend money on the upkeep and replacement things I need to play in a band. This sounds like a Dr. Phil moment..

Tell her she's the only Relic you've ever felt the need to keep. That'll set her off...

Or, more secularly and business-ly, the oulde sage; life is a learning experience.

The vintage market is simple: Something is made and available in plenty, at market value. It then becomes passe' and sold at clearance price. It then becomes garage sale stuff. It then either becomes trash or begins to become an antique or vintage. Some rare, few things REALLY appreciate in value.

Been there myself Bro, got rid of amps and guitars mostly in trade ups for what I thought I wanted more at the time. At least I still have my 74 Strat. It's actually becoming sort of a collectible now.
