Yamaha acoustics are very very underated guitars. If it's the FG series you got a really good deal in my opinion.

Hi hotice, I bought this Yamaha FG403S brand new in 2005 for $240.00 cdn.

At that time I was coming back to guitar playing and I didn't want to overbudget the experience, but all in all it was a good choice. I still own it and it plays well for the price. Good luck with yours. :)

I've written more songs on my APX series than any other guitar I own. Even sounds better than my Ovation plugged in. I agree that Yamaha acoustics are underrated. I like mine a lot.

Every FG model is good some more than others. If you ever see the original FG "Red Label" you have a very nice and rare guitar because they were limited and numbered. Worth thousands.

I say good deal! The yamaha's are good guitars and i never understood the hate they get. My first acoustic was a fg700s and I still really love it.

The Yamaha Fg series are great guitars,as stated before the red label ones are exquisite one luthier in particular is really in demand guitars with his initials command top dollar,I found this info poking around the Yamaha web site.I have an FG346Sb I bought new in'84,it's an anomoly as the SB denotes sunburst and mine is Marine Blue burst made in '83 in limited quantities it sounds real mellow not real bright like a lot of Yamahas.

Do they? I hadn't heard - what's that all about?

My humble CPX does me nicely: appropriate for my abilities and needs. Arguably on the bright side, as guitslinger says, but then it's not a huge box so that's not a surprise.

Yamaha are unbeatable at any price point, in my experience.

Cheers - C

amybe its just from the guitar snobs? I got my yamaha fg700s for less than $200 new and everytime I mentioned it to people I know they were like "Oh a Yamaha". I couldn't figure it out, for the money and being a solid top my Fg has served me well.
