Well, yeah, essentially.

You think this argument actually MEANS something?

Some people like new cars, some people like used cars. They have character, the used ones. works the same way with guitars I guess.

I understand that some people are very easily entertained.

But seriously, trying to make yourself sound like you hold an elevated artistic position because you can look down your nose at people who bought a guitar you don't like... well, it's stupid.

I agree with that statement. Read it again, substitute the word "guitar" for "amplifier"... well, it's stupid.

I feel bad for the people who play guitars that they've actually worn down over the years honestly. Since now if they play it out they look like they're playing a Road Worn fakey.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why the artificially aged and stressed guitars were ever conceived and marketed, and WHY would any real musician want one? I have a theory that the high prices on big name guitars are based on a new phenomenon...the WANNBE guitarthusiast, who can't play a record player, can't dance, can't sing, but has boocoo money and buys guitars as furniture....

:D I firmly believe that the beat up guitar craze began due to an excellent marketing idea on the part of Fender. They figured out a way to sell the bodies that initially get dinged and damaged during the finishing process (AND charge more for them).

The only thing better is the guy that put big tires and 4 wheel drive on your parents completely uncool station wagon and convinced everyone that it was a super cool SUV :D

If you're referring to that on-going debate about the Hot Rod, nobody is looking down their nose at anyone because of the "style" of the amp, but simply taking an informed stance that the Hot Rod series has design flaws that make it easily self-destruct. The argument above is very different, being one of aesthetics and not engineering.

The answer is simple. If we're talking about custom shop relics - it's simply that they're just very good guitars. Yes, they're amazing to look and I think they look badass, but tonally it has benefits because there's less lacquer and paint to let the wood sing and breathe.

The amount of people that have come into my store not wanting a Relic and then leaving with one, is insane.
