So does anyone own one of these amps? I have heard allot of good things about them and was in a music store today that had a Full Stack version. What are peoples opinions on this amp? I am yet to hear it

the blackstar stuff is pretty good and the HT series is pretty good BUT not the best thing they make for those prices. Have a gander at the newer series ONE stuff, they've maxed all reviews and sound immense for the really good price.

I bought an HT-5 a couple of months back. I must have demo'd over 20 heads and combos before deciding on the HT. It really is the closest an amp has come to the "sound in my head". 5 stars!

Its worth mention that I did NOT purchase any Blackstar cabs though. Instead I opted to run mine thru a Marshall 1936 2x12.

I think I remember you posting a pic of your rig in the past. From what I've heard from you and Niki it's a great rig!! 8)

Thats right Hop. In fact it was Niki that 1st turned me on to Blackstar. Prior to that I was looking at the new Marshall Haze head, The blackheart Handsome devil and a few others. Like I said, The HT really came closer to the sound I was looking for without alot of hokey gimmicks getting in the way.

I'm posting the pic again just for giggles

Your more than welcome if ya ever care to make the trip and run her thru the paces.

Lucky you!! It sure makes for a nice looking rig with the Marshall cab! I don't like an amp with a dozen controls either. On/off, maybe standby, tone pots , master volume and or just volume! Simple and effective!

I have Had the HT-5 combo for a while now and its a great amp when.....
used with the right guitar. I find it really changes from guitar to guitar and some of mine sound awful on it.
It get the best tone with powerful pick ups

Hi Strat0Blues: I don't own one but I've demo'd 'em in shops and liked what I heard. It would be high on my list if was after that type of model.

Another to be aware of: Marshall have recently brought out their Class5 amp, which fills a previously gaping hole in their catalog:

I haven't met one yet but they've been getting a very good reaction in the guitar press, far as I've seen. Worth looking out for...

Cheers - C

Hi Ceri,

Those class 5s are cracking amps - they've got that classic bluesbreaker tone at lower volumes (at times can sound a bit bottom heavy though), and are made in England - and are cheap as nuts!

Hi Ed: well that's another good review, thank you. Is your shop stocking them - what's the street price?

Cheers - C

Edit: Joe Bonamassa launches the Class5 - here:

The class 5 IS a sweet looking amp! might make a good replacement for my MG (dont really care for SS) and my blackstar rig is obviously not ver portable.
