Lets hear your story of the best Fender deal you came across, new or used, that you bought on the spot. Here's mine:
It was 1975 and I was playing in a band for a benefit at a men's reformatory in Newton, Iowa. On a break, an older inmate came up to me and said he had something he wanted to show me. He took me down to the boiler room where he was assigned, and in the corner of the room was a mint Fender Twin Reverb, a mint Fender Jazzmaster and a kind if beat up old Gibson Dove. The guy said he wanted to know if I'd be interested in buying all the stuff for $300 !! Remember, this was 1975 and gear prices were still down to earth. I was all of 18 years old, but I called my Dad and he loaned me the $300 and the I went home with all of it!

best fender? probably the twin i picked up recently. Got a 65' fender twin reissue for £600 ($954.84).

but outside of fender i found a Tokai Original Series (Its not a copy of anything) in a small messy second hand shop and it sounded really good and was really light and comfy. So they asked £60 ($95) for it so i took it. When i got it home i sourced it and found out that it was infact made in 1981 and one recently sold on ebay for £1300 ($2068.82).

Not bad eh?

During a Nor'easter in VA, a music shop(AL&M) had it's front windows shattered by a fallen telephone pole. buddy and I helped ourselves to what we could get our hands on. Had clearly been sacked already but I picked up a AV Jazzmaster, a crappy generic superstrat, a couple dozen packs of Ernie Balls, and some random $@!&. Friend snatched a bunch of random drum $@!&. It was $@!&.

I have a couple.
#1. Mesa Boogie Road King 2 Head $900
#2. 1998 Taylor 810CE acoustic $400
#3. 1979 Fender Strat $1000

The first two were killer deals that came from watching the classifieds a ton and being friends with the guitar guys at a pawn shop. Good thing because I saved over 3 grand on the amp and the Taylor acoustic.

Amp sounds amazing and is my main gigging amp.
The acoustic had a small 1 inch finish crack. But I don't think that it makes the guitar lose over $1200 in value. Got the crack filled so its not goin anywhere!

To me the best deal would have to be this year .I scored a Peavey Wolfgang custom shop dead mint for $1,199 Buy it now. I happened to click on ebay the minute it was listed and the guy said he was buying a new home so this had to go. Before Peavey opened there custom shop they had a contest called the Eddies dozen where they gave away one custom shop Wolfgang a month for a year world. The guy won the next to last month and the guitar came with a copy of the contest form showing which guitar was up to be won that month from the custom shop as well as the build sheet. Very cool collectable and since they only made 400 plus custom models a steal. Funny thing I was reading back threads on Harmony Centrals forum and came across the guy I bought the guitar from asking around if anyone new what it was worth and guys were throwing out all kinds of numbers and someone told him charge a hundred for every month of the contest,Masterhacker I like your story but I will tell you the inmate you bought the gear from probably wound up hetting hacked or should I say shanked. The gear he sold you was instruments that are in the prison for inmate use and believe me they dont get replaced. So you can rest assure if they found out it was him he looked like a pin cushion.

A 58 watkins clubman amp for £150. That was in march.

Bargain deal on the tokai Big The Cat. I had a 81 Breezysound. Worth every penny of the £1300 your (Tablo is it) are fetching these days. The guy from INXS used to play them.

My best deal was my most recent.

A Classic Players 50s for $400. I really like the guitar and think it is a steal at that price.
