i'm a young rookie and haven't bought enough amps/speakers to really have experience with this...

but anyway, can someone describe what characteristics a new speaker tends to have? or, what are the tell-tale signs that a speaker needs to be broken in?

i recently bought a new fender amp and want to know where the speaker stands currently, as in if it's still "breaking in", but i don't really know what things to hear for when determining if a speaker needs to be broken in!
i realize many people feel sorely about the stock eminence speakers, but they must be worthy of more credit than that, i've heard good sounds come out of them.

also, i've heard some people dismiss the whole concept as a bunch of hoo-hah, for reasons i don't remember. but they do not believe in "breaking in". maybe you can prove them wrong?

surely you guys have some info.
thanks

The stock Eminence speaker is not bad, it is a modified Eminence Legend 125.
The custom Fender version seems rated for less wattage than the original.

Breaking in a speaker normally happens over time by just playing it at normal to high volumes for a few days.
Or you can try to speed it up by following one of the methods found floating around.

Remember that sound is subjective, some people have put the original speaker back in after trying others because they decided they liked its sound better.
