I got a couple pair of KOSS that are real good. Sony has some really nice stuff as well that sound real good ( that is what I use on my practice Amp for late night jamming)….(IMHO) I believe you are not going to find anything better then a set of Bose though… just depends on what you want to spend and how long you want them to last…….

Yes, what are you willing to pay though?

You want actual over the ear, Princess Leiah headphones, or some noise canceling in-ear speakers like these?

Bose is overpriced junk, not monitor quality in any way. Their motto should be "Better sound through marketing."

The Sony MDR 7506 phones are a studio (and film and live sound) staple, and take years of abuse while sounding balanced and crisp. You can buy them for less $100. I've had several pairs of these for over 10 years and they still work fine (even though some are starting to lose their cushions now).

Audio-Technica makes a couple of pairs around that same price that sound good. AS a weird rule of thumb, the male singers who come to my studio seem to bring 7506's, and the females seem to bring AT's. Can't say why.

but nobody has asked the important question: just what is failing on your current phones in only 3 months? WHat do you mean they only "last" for three months? Do they stop working? Fall apart? In either case, just what the hell re you doing to them?

I'm using a pair of AKG K240 Studio that I'm very pleased with. A very neutral sounding set of phones, and I use them when checking the mix when recording too.

The model I have are HD202. Cost me about 90 bucks so over there (in the USA) they'd probbaly only be about 50. Very good for the price. Comfortable to wear also.

Cheers.

I swear by Creative EP-630/A earphones.

They are dead cheap (£6.98 on Amazon) and sound surprisingly good! If you lose them, not a problem due to the price.

I would recommend them to everyone, and by the looks of things people on Amazon would too!

How is the audio quality on the Sony MDR 7506s?

Superior to excellent. I use them as studio tracking monitors, out in the field doing live sound or sound for picture... they are clean, accurate and very, very efficient, so they sound good being driven by virtually any headphone amp. A popular pro choice.

As stated in one post Audio Technica makes some really good low priced units. I personally love the Audio Technica ATH M30s. Beautiful response and very light, and really reasonable.

I'm using Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs for monitoring and I may trade up. The most popular recommendations I received were for the Sony MDR-7506 mentioned earlier and the Sennheiser HD280. It isn't clear to me if the original poster is using them for monitoring or just casual listening. Not sure I'd want cans with a flat response for casual listening.
