Same thing happened to me. I deleted my facebook account about six months ago (for privacy reasons). This past June someone hacked into their deleted accounts and reactivated my account. They posed as me and sent emails to people in my friends list saying that I was stranded somewhere, and could they send me money to get home. I started to get all these strange emails from friends through facebook like..."sorry, I got your message late, I was out of town"...or..."did you get home alright?". I thought what the heck are these people talking about? I contacted facebook, and told them that I deactivated my account months ago. Their security dept. contacted me and explained what happened with the hackers, and they sent emails to everyone on my friends list alerting them that I was not on facebook anymore and that someone was posing as me. Then I had to contact the security dept. by phone and made sure they wiped out my entire account. After that, I contacted most of my friends from facebook by phone and explained the whole situation.
No more facebook for me!

On another note and not meaning to hijack the thread but something similer happened to me. I added what I thought was a sim game and when I did it was just pictures that automatcly tagged every single one of my friends. That was a pain because it added albums in your pictures and if you opened them then it would tag and send it to everyone on your list.

This is a common complaint. A bunch of my friends want me to get a facebook account, but both facebook and myspace have such abysmal security histories I won't even bother making an account under a fake name.

Sorry to hear you were hijacked on facebook. I have heard it has been happening a lot. I guess its time for me to look into my account too (haven't in a while).

Jeff....it is what it is...FWIW, my MySpace account (one of the first) was hacked and I never bothered to re-register. I had about 100k+ plays on 4 tunes and over 3k in friends.
