Opened for the Dead once in Boston. They got booed roundly since they were touted as a band that could play electric blues amongst other styles, and Boston was a hard core blues town. Their hippy-dippy stoner skip-to-my-blues rich Marin County White Guy silliness was reviled by an audience brought up on the real thing out of Chicago.

But as a musician, Pig Pen could actually play the blues, RIP. And the drummers were good, just forced to play hippy music. The rest of the guys...let's just say they were nice guys. RIP.

Grew up and learned to play during the era. They always bored me.
