No it is perfectly OK to like to listen to Chuck Berry. If you want to expand on that rock and roll era, listening to Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and Buddy Holly and even some early Elvis helps just remember to play along so you can come up with some riffage for future guitar sessions.

you have to start with the fundementals.....develop a good rock and blues foundation.....listen to some Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf while you're at it....
