+1 on the Dunlop 3mil stubby Eddy...I really wanted to try the Vpicks but don't want to spend the money so I find this a decent compromise. Great for lead work but I really have to back off on rhythm and roll it to the blunt end or it sounds like a chopper's ball.

I usually play with medium picks, but other than that I have no brand preference. I have Fenders and Martins... I have some with alien faces, skulls, Hello Kitty, The Pick of Destiny and First Act picks... (all given to me by my daughter). I still have a few steel picks I used to use for some reason. For a while back in the seventies I ran out at a gig, so I used one of Rick Neilsen's picks I caught at a Cheap Trick concert. I was saving it, but it was all I had left in my case. (The gig must go on...)

I have picks from radio promos... I have a lot of picks I "forgot" to give back while trying out guitars in a store...

Right now, I'm using a green Planet Waves pick that I found in the street...

I guess I'm not that picky!...

For me, it is pretty much the old standard Fender medium, normal shape. Anything else just feels wierd, is too hard, or too soft. It does not have to be Fender, pe se, as long it is a normal medium pick. But That being said, I still only buy Fender ... go with what works.

I used to use the Fender medium until I tried the V-Picks…..now I will not use anything else…I like the Diamond pointed V-Pick the best, but the large rounded works great for chords and sweep picking…

Cheers
Bill

On the acoustic i use tortex reds .50 and on the electric i use an orange .80 because they last forever and i've poked some small burr holes in them to keep them from slipping around on in my fingers. Then again i use my fingers alot also. For the best tone i've found that a good caloused thumb with a short nail just even with the top of the thumb works really good.

just bought a ton of pics from MF. But I keep prefering the Dunlop Tortex 1.0 - 1.4. Like the feel of the surface, and the stiffer pick. But any heavy gauge seems to work OK for me.
