I like Fender mediums because they flex and I don't drop them. I got a string pack from Dunlop that brought a ULTEX sharp 1.0 which looks kind of stiff. Haven't tried it yet. Maybe it will work better cause it's pointy.

I use whatever pick I can find. I loose them all over the house. I find them in the laundry, on the floor, in the 5th pocket of my jeans. I once made picks out of an old bank card.

V-Picks Medium Pointed...It has a nice pointy tip, but beefy body, for the precision and attack I like...

at the moment yellow dunlop tortex picks, .73mm, seem pretty similat to the gels i was usuing (the purple mediums) but seem grippier in my hand, and they smooth out where it hits the string as you use em.

i've used peavey/jack daniels ones as well but they seem a bit soft for a medium...

Well, there you go. You me and Eric Johnson. :)

A long time ago, I used a Fender small triangle pick they don't make anymore. I drilled holes in it so it wouldn't shift between my fingers. Then I went to MacPhearson picks with the triagular hole in the middle. I think they may be out of business now.

Dunlop Jazz III's are a good pick. You can find them at quite a few music stores and they are HEAVY. You can back off on a heavy pick and play as soft as you like, but you will never get the same attack off of a limp-wristed medium or softy pick.

after my own heart... found one in my pocket when i put my pants on this morning.
i've been using the celluloid mediums since 1976... don't care what brand. i pick too hard to use the heavy's, and can't control the lights. i've tried the teardrops, but they're too small for my fat fingers.
i've used:
those promo credit cards you get in the mail
simm card from a cell phone
bread bag tabs

and i've mastered the art of making dylan stands from coat hangers. can't do niel young without one ;)

.88 Dunlops, though I have ordered Surfpicks and V-picks to try.

Years ago, it was Fender medium tortoise. I liked them when they were a little worn in, but they didn't last long before they were too worn. Switched to Dunlop Nylon 1.0 for a long time (which I still use on acoustic). Friend introduced me to Dunlop Gator 2.0. Loved them for a while, switched to the 1.5 for a few years. Then they sounded like mush to me. Played Dunlop Ultex for a while, but they were a little too bright.

In the last two years, I've switched to Dunlop Tortex .88. I tried the pitch black version, but they were too smooth and sounded a little different. I like they way they look, with the black pick and chrome writing, but the normal green ones just feel and sound better to me. Will probably be using them for a long time.

I need picks to be able to mold just a little in my fingers when I hold them, but not enough to bend at all when I'm playing or I feel like I'm fighting against the pick. These Tortex .88 feel about perfect to me. If they were just a hair smaller, like the Ultex and Gator, that would be my perfect pick.

I like the orange dunlop picks. Tone-wise, they produce a brighter tone rather than a thick tone. Also, it sounds good both with clean and distortion. Mainly I use it for tone, heavy picks sound too boomy to me. The yellow dunlop picks are good too, but the orange picks sound better when compared to the yellow ones as far as clean playing...at least to my ears :)

That is funny and true about picks being found in the weirdest places in the house. Draws, under couch cushions,in the washing machine.lol I use Dunlop 1.14 the purpleish pink ones. It is a pain because I have to do like five at a time but I take a serrated knife and cut grooves and run the knife over both sides except the very tip and it gives it a kind of sandpaper feel so they dont slip.

The old standby-Fender 351s medium in the tortoiseshell color. I've tried other picks but growing up and after trying other brands of picks I still stick to the original Fender 351s.

However after reading a review of two picks-Blue Chip and Red Bear-in Vintage Guitar I might just drop some bucks and give one or both of these a try.

mmm blue dunlop tortex or blue dean markley that are both 1.0 mm. anything higher than 1.0 is just to thick and to slim just drags on strings sooo 1.0mm just works for me haha.
