I always used to use the red Sharkfin ones, but I am going off them now as they don't really give a great sound playing clean or acoustic.

Am using Jim Dunlops at the moment, but I have ordered some white Sharkfins.

What about you?

green dunlops with the turtle on it. I think it's .88mm.

Not too thick, not too thin, and the plastic quality is exceptional. They never slip and I rarely, rarely drop them. Maybe once every couple years.

i've got a Dava pick with rubber grip. I love it because the plastic part is small enough (not too small though) for the rubber part to bend and conform to my fingers. Also when i'm picking fast it bends back and forth, making it easier and more comfortable. I hardly even notice it's there most of the time.

Do you think the color will make a difference????

I don't even know what type I use, about 5 years ago Musicians Friend had a 10 pack special so I just bought it... I still have about 20 left. They're black, no other markings, I think they're mediums.

Yellow Dunlop Tortex picks are my favorites right now, although I like the orange ones too. I always have a supply of Fender Mediums, and I won over a hundred Ernie Ball Heavy picks in the King of the Blues contest. So I don't have to worry about buying new picks for a very long time.

green tortex dunlop .88 for me.
used them since they came out in...er 1820?...lol.....forever.
actually before that i used to use polished stone picks. seriously.
thats what my guitar teacher used and i just graduated to that as i coped his style completly-he was very influential on me and was a fantastic player and teacher(may he RIP).
however they were alway hard to get and i f i lost one i was like how the hell do you use a regular pick again?
so i started using the green tortex, and have been ever since.

Yes, because the white ones are thicker!!

Fender Premium cellulose 351. Normally the mediums, but I change depending on what I'm playing, and I frequently play with no pick. I color code them to keep track - red for thin, green for medium, blue for heavy.

That's what I was thinking.

I use a variety of picks--but mostly I use Tortex or Gator Grips.
For Tortex I use the purples--because they are 1.14 mm, and through trial & error over the years I have found I like that thickness the best. Anything over 1 mm & 1.2 or less is okay--but 1.14 just feels right.

For Gator Grips I use the blue ones--because they are 1.14 mm.

Tortex have unbeveled edges and Gator Grips have beveled edges. I prefer Gator Grips on my Mustang--probably because the strings are closer together and the beveled edge makes a difference.

On my acoustic 12 string I like Dunlop's aluminum Teck picks--they bring out a nice brightness to the tone.

With heavier picks I find I pick more softly, but still get power & edge--I have more control over my sound with a thicker pick--but too thick and they're awkward.

DBR those are the teardrop picks usually used by jazz players. Not sure what they're called either, we always called them jazz picks.

not sure if that is good or bad for me? it just seems easier to pick faster and more accurately for me. maybe i am a jazz player at heart? i'd be happy with that, i'm happy to learn to play anything at this point! :-)

Where do you get yours from?

I had one once, (probably found it) and loved it but I can't seem to find them anywhere!

I started out on Fender mediums, then went to the orange tortex, then jazz III, now I'm back to using my favorite, mah fingers ^^ (Occasionally when I do use a pick I usually do the smooth side of the jazz III nowadays)
