This could be an interesting thread.

Most of us are always looking for something different to add to/change our tone or to improve/enhance our playing.

Do you have something to add?

I recommend:

V-Picks
www.v-picks.com

These things are cool! My playing improved with these picks because they are made out of a special material that when it becomes warm it sticks to your fingers!!!!! My speed increased and they also added some tone because of the shape.

Scumback Speakers
www.southbayampworks.com

These speakers are clones of Pre-Rola Celestions!!!! Talk about having the MOJO these bad boys sound great!!!!!

WCR Pickups
www.crcoils.com

Fantastic handmade pickups. Mostly Humbuckers, but he does occassionly make some single coils that are fabulous.

Vist the woodshed. No gimmics can overcome poor playing and technique. Plug straight from guitar to amp and let the emotion lead you.

That goes without saying, but every guitar player I come in contact with is looking for a little something extra.

My summer project is to build my own guitar with my dad from scratch.
That might pay off, it might suck.
We'll see.

I had a few that worked,

I use the fat side to pick with vs the pointed tip which gives me a more solid sound.

Wow! Talk about a resurrected thread...lol. But since it's here anyhow. I say hand exercisers are way up on my list of ways to improve tone. I was amazed at how much they helped me out.

I've still yet to try a v-pick. Maybe I should...

I'll add 'new strings' - not mentioning any brands, but new strings will let
your tone ring out loud and clear.

I agree with the "woodshed" post at the beginning of this thread. Nothing helps me out better than some good old practice time. It's just nothing more than spending time on the things that give you trouble. Tone will follow that.

if you like those picks try a stylus pick. they work when you practice with the system provided. once you learn it your speed is amazing. ive had a few friends over the yrs try this system will unbelievable results. first hand witness. you can fly with those picks after about 2 weeks. then you can switch back to your regular fav picks and you will be a different player after that.

I have found that since I've relegated my pedals largely to my gear bag I've become more fluid and precise in my playing.Relying too much on effects can make you lazy and careless as playing without them keeps you on your toes for then mistakes are more easily picked up.After going clean into the amp for so long now, when I use effects my playing sounds a lot cleaner and exact.I don't think we have a dealer for Scumback speakers around here but if they sound like the old pre-Rolas they should be a great upgrade from the Wharfedales I have in my Vox 4-12 cab even though they were both designed by the same guy-Steve Grinrod.

Miami Mike, send me an email with your mailing address and I'll hook you up with some V-Picks to try out.

Derek, Give Jim at Southbay Ampworks a shout. He'll ship those Scumbacks anywhere in the world! Tell him I sent you.

TTSC, that is a great pic collection. I used to collect picks with different music store names on them, now I just stick to pint glasses. I use two v-picks most of the time, to me, they just feel good.
