How many guys out there are Brian Setzer fans. OK this is the first time I really ever mentioned Setzer on the forum and he does not play a Fender but to me the guy is just one of the most phenomenal players out there.I have followed him from the Stray Cats through his solo and Orchestra phases and he is just one of the top players out there. I also learned Diminished runs,Augmented licks and the sickest chords from breaking down his stuff through the years.I cant say he does not get his due because every Mag from Guitar Player to Guitar techniques across the pond gives it to him. I also admire that when he started the Orchestra he wanted his jazz chops so tight he went back and studied with Sinatras guitarist, and that he was only 17 when he recorded the Stray cats first album. Thats some mature Rockabilly shred for someone so young, and live the guy just leaves it all out there. AMAZING

I think he's great. He has a different style than the rest of the crowd.

Hello Straycat113,

Heck yeah! He's one of the tops.
Puts on a great show and
backs it up with endless talent.
I've see a few videos of his work
I'd really like to see him live.

Say Gretsch and Brian Setzer is
the first thing that come to mind.

Cheers.

He is one great player, alright! I have been around quite a few Gretsch Guitars with Bigsby tremelos and I have no clue how he uses it so much and stays in tune. He also dances like a madman while he plays lead.

Brian is one of the most underrated guitarists around.

I am a huge fan of his music and have quite a large collection of his CD's.

I kind of liked some of the Stray Cats stuff, but when I saw his Christmas Extravaganza show a couple of years ago, I saw how versatile and talented
he really was.

'The Dirty Boogie' CD is one of my favorites and I have a few tunes that he did from West Side Story that sound great too!

I saw the Stray Cats in a tiny sweaty nightclub about a week before their first single came out! (The glamorous 400 Club in beautiful Torquay - and yes, I am being sarcastic in my choice of words...)

What a night - what a player! The others were good too (though we couldn't quite take their names seriously at the time. Some giggling in the room when they were introduced).

Didn't Slim Jim Phantom marry Britt Ekland - or did I dream that?

Cheers - C

I just finished watching the "Rumble in Brixton" DVD. Great Stuff!
Setzer might be known for the Gretsch guitar, but he is also rocking a vintage Bassman Amp.

LOL No Ceri he was married to her. And as for Ceri stating he saw them right before they broke the Strat Cats made it in the UK long before they broke here.Dave Edmunds of Rockpile took them under his wing and a lot of critics thought it was Dave playing lead because they could not believe a 17 yearold kid could play Rockabilly with such conviction.

Now straycat, put me right on this. I remember when they broke the publicity all said Brian was just 17. But then a rumour went around that really he was 21 and had fibbed about his age to appeal to the teen market.

Was that true or not?

'Course, from my dizzy age 17 or 21 both seem impossibly young. The idea that you're too old to rock by the time you turn 20 makes me cry with laughter. Or just cry... :(

Anyhow. Rock this town!

Cheers - C

I've been a huge Setzer fan for a long long time... I still get a kick out of seeing him play Eddie Cochran in La Bamba. When it come to electric guitar, he is probably my favorite.

I never thought of him as underrated. He's incredible and a very respected musician. If you haven't yet, check out Wolfgang's Night Out. It's just mind boggling.
