I'm heading to New York City and I'm looking for a place to go and play (not buy) a couple of vintage Strats, any one have a suggestion? What are the must visit stores?

Voodoo enjoy and have a good time in the big apple. Go check out Rudys on W48 st,Chelsea guitars onW23st, and 30 Street guitars on W30st. They are all amazing stores with axes that you could buy instead of a new home.lol I dont know how long you will be here but if you have a special ax that needs a refret or some work Matt at 30 st guitars is the best I have ever seen. He did my 62 reissue tele 6 years ago with the best refret I have ever seen anywhere and is a super cool cat. Have a great stay.

Thanks straycat! I'll be there for 1 or 2 weeks during Christmas and I'm trying to plan ahead. :o) I figure this may be only chance to play a good ol' strat.

I know Electric ladyland Studios is there, do they offers tours or anything? Do you know of any must see places?

Matt Uminov on Bleeker St, if it's still there. I used to always drop in when I lived there.

What's the rate? I guess I could drop $30 and spend an hour recording something there.

Hey, good list of stores. I'll need to stop by when I'm there in a couple of weeks.

Good call on 30th Street Guitars. My NYC and CT friends love that place, especially the super expert service. One of the last of the great independents.
