I passed up 2 different Squire Deluxe Teles both priced under $150 new. Then there was a MIM Fender Fat Strat i passed on for $200 new on clearance a few years ago. I was stupid and ended up getting an Ibanez Hollowbody arhtop that i hated after i got it home then eventually sold it. Then don't even get me started on all of the acoustic guitars i've passed up in the past few years. One that stands out was a 50 something model acoustic silvertone all solid construction with just the F holes that i let pass up for 5 bucks. I turned it down because it didn't have tuners. I know i'm stupid because any of these are worth twice as much now.

An Aerodyne Tele and a TC-90; both this year, brand new, forgotten in a shop. (sigh!)

Also missed out on a Baja Tele with black pickguard. It was the best Tele I've played. They came down to $550 but I still couldn't pull the trigger. I loved the broadcaster pickups. :(

Hey, never mind guitars. I'm kicking myself for not buying this genuine vintage Stradivarius violin worth millions for... literally pennies!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... IF:GB:1348

That must be the deal of the century!

Or not...

Cheers - C

When I was in the Air Force stationed at Misawa AB Japan, there was a music store not too far from the main gate that had an Aria Pro II Wildcat in an ugly Yellowish Orange that played and sounded wonderful. It's been over 20 years and I still think about that guitar and wish I would have bought it. I've had so much gear that I've sold that I wish I still had that it would take too long to tell it here.

There was a saphire blue Cort G series. Beginer guitar, but I needed it regardless. My guitars at the time were terrible, the Cort would definetly have been a step up, and I would have gotten an awsome deal for it. The reason I didn't get it was I wanted a Nintendo Wii too much to give the money for a guitar instead.

But, thinking back, if I got that instead of waiting a year and getting my Tele, then... I wouldn't have my tele. :D

Hey Ceri, it says below "copy". And the Czechs do good stuff. Still got time, mate. :-)

Hi Purple: I did take the word "Czechoslovakia" to be a kind of clue. Along with the absence of zeros on the price.

Wracking my memory, but I don't recall any of the Cremonese builders working in Czechoslovakia. Not that such a country existed then, and it doesn't anymore today either...

(Which is not to diss the Czech Republic in any way. I just got a look at Faith's new upper-mid-price models which are designed in the UK by Patrick James Eggle and built in the CR at the Furch factory. Very tasty!)

Cheers - C

Ceri, you're right and there's no arguing about that; the ad was a bit of a good laugh.
And yes, they do have a tradition at building instruments; they were exporting electrics outside the Eastern block before 1989. If I remember correctly, Trev Wilkinson worked with Czech factories and the results were tasty; yet, it's still way cheaper to build in Asia.
Come to think of it, pretty much every European country has some tradition at building instruments.

There are two that I didn't get--because I didn't have the money at the time, and was thinking how I could, but they sold before that (And one amp too.)

but there's never been one I could have bought that I didn't & regret it.

Actually there are many I wish I'd had the money to buy--but there are two that I was close to being able to afford.

One was a Starcaster--the original one--the Fender semi hollow--they were nice.

The other is an Ibanez Futura (Gibson Moderne copy)

The Futura is okay--because it was basically the same as my Iceman--except for the shape & finish.

The Starcaster I'd love to have.

A few times I've been broke as a joke and missed some good deals. Les Paul Gem Series Studio (P-90's), iirc for $600, Guild Bluesbird for $500, Ric 620, iirc $400. I sussed the lead singer in my side band to the Ric so he got it. I later got the same model for even less, so it was karminc payback.

;)
