I suppose it's possible, but he has two signature guitars made by Carvin.

I asked this very question over a year ago. Some guy was like, "I'm Eric Clapton." From everything I know about the Clapton, he really likes his privacy. He doesn't sign much and he generally likes to be left alone.

People come, and go. It's hard to tell who's who.

i fully understand that people don't want to say who they are if famous. Too many fanatical[*] hero worshipers who would latch on with tentacled appendages, thinking that their request would be unique, the famous person would have unlimited time, and that fame imparts arcane knowledge.

[*] Fan is short for fanatic.

I don't care who you are. As long as you're not Buddy Holly, because that would freak me out.

Anyhow, what's with dredging out a seven year old thread, with a post that can be interpreted as John Mayer having died?

Actually 01GT Eibach is Alex Lifeson.

Oh no, wait a minute, 01GT Eibach wishes he was Alex Lifeson.

I'm very famous but my incredible humility and fear of compromising my privacy prevents me from identifying my self.

LOL @ 01GT

_________

After reading this thread, if he really is a member here, I have to kinda wonder how JM might have felt about a year and half or two years ago when it seemed like the whole lounge was a giant JM bashing machine. That's not meant to be a judgement call on the bashing one way or the other. They guy is definitely a strange cat. I'm 100% positive I would never mention masturbation in an interview. LOL!! (in the extremely unlikely event I was ever interviewed) He had to know people would talk about that. Just saying it makes me wonder is all.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Being a legend in my own mind, I can guarantee you there are some big names here. Case in point:

MARTIAN!

I don't know of any "big names" on this forum. I seriously doubt a star would publicly come out on an internet forum, and honestly and truly, say who they really are. They'd get hounded to death and would have to delete their user account.

The only "big name" I remember actually talking to (i.e. internet typing to - not on this forum) back in the day was none other than:

Barry Goudreau (the original guitarist for Boston)

We started chatting years ago, and I told him that I was stationed in Boston back in my US Coast Guard days. He got curious about my guitar playing and my military sense of honesty and integrity, etc...

And yes, to make a long story short, he "outed himself" to me and he really truly was Barry Goudreau! He even gave me his email address too. Terrific guy and very down to earth. Due my military integrity (even though I'm retired) and my respect for other's privacy, I absolutely WILL NOT divulge anything further. No email address info, no screen names, sorry... All I'm saying is that yes, I did chat with him and get to know him a little via the internet.
