Find Experience PRS on YouTube.

Buddy plays a white PRS '305'on this gig. This is a new model....3 SC's, 5 position switch. Does some stuff with Santana.

One in the audience asks him "Where's your Strat, Buddy?" He smiles back, knowingly.

Wonder if there's anything else in the works between him and PRS? The guitar he's playing has a maple neck whereas the standard production version is rosewood. Already, there's a custom version for him.

Interestingly, if you watch closely, he doesn't seem to be as comfortable on that guitar, or getting out as well with that setup.

According to an advert in the 'New Products" section, October 2009 issue of Premier Guitar which I just rescued from my mailbox, this guitar MSRP's at $3850 and I would bet you won't see it under $2500 street.

Might I remind ya'll of the hot little thread we've recently woven on overseas production by US manufacturers. :?: :? PRS's American market is most definitely niche directed.

Thanks for the lead on "Experience PRS," doc.

I hadn't heard of it. I guess if Paul R. Smith throws a party, the least you can do is play one of his guitars when you show up to jam.

There are a lot of You Tube Vids from there!

This was serious business. A fund-raiser for the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. The guitar is obviously a PRS answer to the Stratocaster. I suppose, since Fender and Gibson lost their respective trademark cases, it's a new ballgame and playing field.

However $3850 is definitely NOT chump change. I wonder if there'll be an SE version down the road. Witness their Limited Edition Santana Abraxas.

Here's a link for it, doc.

Some of it looks familiar.

Thanks for posting this Doc - enjoyed watching the videos!! It was different seeing Buddy playing something other than a Strat! I liked when he smiled back at the crowd when asked about his Strat though!!

I will admit, I have a slew of strats, and they are always my number 1 choice, but I have PRS amongst the many Fenders, and I will say, its plays darn good!!!

Can't argue that. I've owned two. However, at the end of the day, I come back to the Stratocaster. PRS has yet to do a neck that feels right to me. I thought the Hiland would, but traded it up for the Gilmour once played. I don't hear Buddy getting his characteristic 'quack' out of that PRS either.
You're talking Lace Sensors and a 25db boost circuit in his 'Dotty'guitar. Totally different beast....and I do mean beast!

Thanks for this Doc. I have to say that Buddy does not seem to be comfortable with the PRS. Now check out the link after the Santana one from Summerfest 09 where Buddy has his strat and melds Voodoo Chile with Sunhine of your Love it is two different players. He pulls out all the stops from holding one note so long and lovely a roadie brings him out a beer to sip to playing with his teeth above his head and behind his back.lol Thats the Buddy we all know and love.

That's the gear for certain. He has that gain balanced so he can create that long sustain when he calls for it.

Nice signature series PRS too, but just didn't fit the bill for me.
