Gibson people are mad at Gibson for ripping off Fender. Fender people are mad at Gibson for the same reason. And on top of that, Hendrix fans are mad because of what Gibson is doing to their sacred cow. A Gibson Strat rip off starter pack would be bad enough even if it didn't have "Jimi Hendrix" written on it. And they were using the marketing slogan "What would Hendrix play if he were alive today?". That's the recipe for disaster.

Because Gibson is lawsuit-happy when someone makes an SG or LP knockff, yet they produce a strat copy.

And Hendrix's sister (who i read somewhere was adopted, and is no blood relation?) is looking for a fast buck by flaunting her brothers name on a morally wrong guitar!

Imagine Fender releasing a Jimmy Page Les Paul style guitar, because he once playeda Telecaster.

Who isn't now days. Fender and others have done the same thing. In fact fender just lost there last one a few months ago.

My own view is that gibson should be strident in pushing their products. After all they make some great guitars that the man himself used. How about a reasonalbly priced (£800) hendrix inspired V. It doesnt even have to be the one that he was filmed with and always got a bad sound with. How about the Axis V? He recorded a LP with that, yet its forgotten. Gibson are doing nothing to make that fact known. Or how about that georgeous 3 pickup sg. You'll never see a prettier guitar (my opinion).

I guess this all smacks to me of gibson not having faith in their product. Is it that the product is bad? By no means. lesser sales are telling acountants, that lesser sales are because of bad product and their not. Its because of ludicrous prices.

Gibson dont own the set neck market like they used to, they just havent realized it yet. Hence the prs case.

As mostly everyone has said, it was a Strat looking guitar with a butt-ugly reverse headstock. I would not have been as angry if it was a V model or a SG, but a Strat clone. Also a lot of people are upset that Jimi's sister is just trying to make herself some more money.

I would lose some respect for Fender for doing this, but a Jimmy Page Telecaster would be cool.

Yknow what i really think on the money aspect of this. Jimi wouldnt care about Jani making a wedge off his back. Plenty of people did that all his life including his own dad, who didnt want to know him till he had a few quid.

He'd look at that as greedy breadheads. He'd be more concerned about the quality of the guitar being pushed at youngsters. I mean forget the stupid pedal and plectrums (he didnt use one after he'd dropped his first at a gig. Unless another was handed to him). Give em £100's worth of guitar to learn on. Thats what he'd of said, and i agree. How many of us old timers wish we had a guitar that cost £70-£90 to build, to learn on.

The thing is Henry J wouldn't allow that because he would look at a price as low as that for a guitar like that as wrong and would want to charge a skyrocketed price for a sub par guitar.
