It appears that either Gibson has noticed the really bad vibes on the net from this stuff or it was all just a bad joke, but the Hendrix guitars have dissappeared from the Gibson website.

I couldn't find it either so I did a search and came up empty. Looks like they pulled the plug on this one early!

that's so awesome. I noticed it was gone last night but thought it might be a web glitch.

awesome to see the massive upswell of public opinion hopefully killed this foul idea. No one I know liked the idea. Fender players thought it was a sick idea, Gibson players weren't happy, Hendrix fans weren't happy.

You know, honestly it's really a no brainer that this was a stupid idea.

I noticed that too tonight but the same thing happened the night I posted a comment on their about the guitar so I'm not sure if it's a problem with the site or if they pulled the plug on the guitar. Hope it's the latter.

If they've scrubbed it, there's either a lot of dead wood going to the chipper or it will turn up as some odd brand in Walmart. Keeps your eyes open.

I think Gibson was just feeling out the market. Then checking the feedback. it's actually smart a business practice. They probably only made a couple pf prototypes.

YES, thank God!! :P Hearing this(hopefully true) news just made my day--and my week. 8)

What a stupid idea. I'm glad to see that Gibson have(hopefully) laid it to rest.

Do you think everything Fender comes out with was a winner?
I seriously have no problem with Gibson and I grew up listening to Hendrix when he was still alive.

Don't blame Gibson, blame the Hendrix Estate. Gibson really can't do anything without their okay.

@bowlfreshner
I did, just in case.
Anyway, on the Gibson site all their brands are shown and the Hendrix packages were under the Authentic Hendrix brand.

@63supro
I suppose nobody would have had anything to say at all if Gibson would have released any sort of Flying V, Les Paul Custom or SG, in any package of their liking, cheap or expensive. So Gibson deserve their share of the blame. And they got it, including from die-hard fans of their own.
So, I don't see it as a win for anybody else. Gibson were wrong to agree to this, period. And they got the proper reaction.

You'd figure Gibson would have learned from Fenders poor sales of their Hendrix Strat. I just think it's silly on both sides of the fence. There are too many sig guitars around anyway.

But all the whining and acting like the musical worlds coming to an end from both camps over Gibson making a Hendrix guitar is hysterical IMHO. It's just a guitar. Did you forget about the pink Hello Kitty Strat and the Avril Lavigne or Joe Strummer Tele? There's a lot worse things out there.

Well, everybody does sigs. I for one am not interested in them for the sake of the names, but they may have interesting specs.
I bought a Tim Armstrong Hellcat after traying it in a shop because I felt in love with it. I may listen to Rancid, but Tim's name wasn't part of the appeal. Then, I am very much unimpressed with Jimmy Eat World, but the JA-90 is quite an interesting one. And so on.

Don't knock the Joe Strummer; I really don't like the looks of it, but it's a neat one. I have a friend, professional musician who only swears by it. He's so smitten he even uses the same kind of strings it came with and hasn't changed a thing on it. It's worth a try.
