I would call it the "Orvilleowner"!

Toasted all-grain bread. Cheddar Cheese, Miracle Whip. Lettuce & Tomato. Ham, turkey, and pepperoni.

If I were to remain true to my mock-Slavic moniker, my signature sandwich would have to made on heavy black bread smeared with sour cream and course-grain mustard. The contents would be Russian salami, sliced beets, onions and sauerkraut. Garnish with garlic and dill, and serve with lots of vodka.

Russian salami

That actually sounds pretty good to me. 8)

My actual favorite sandwich is roast beef or pastrami on pumpernickel with spicy mustard, mayonnaise, pickles and onions. Or a Pfälzisch-style Saumagen on a hard roll...

I think I just like to eat too much...

opps I forgot to mention, the all important American cheese, and plenty of it!

There is no need for me to call any kind of sandwich out. My vote is for the "Russian Racehorce" - done deal.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Beaubs! We might consider removing the word "horse" from the name--it might negatively affect sales.

I wanted to show a picture of Russian salami because I suspect most people have never seen or tried it. It's a lot fattier than most Italian salamis, which gives it a very rich flavor. It's also not as spicy. The only spice it usually has is garlic. But, man, is it good! 8)

I'd start with an appetizer: some fresh mozzarella di bufala, tomatoes from the garden, with some oregano and extra-virgin olive oil. then the sandwich: "The Tube Tone Delight"; fresh-baked rosemary/garlic Tuscan boule with Prosciutto di Parma, sweet sopressata, Genoa salami, sweet red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes with extra-virgin olive oil, rosemary, fresh basil, some oregano, and aioli. After eating that, I'd have to fly to Florence Italy to get some gelato from my favorit place by the Uffizi Museum along the banks of the Arno...
ciao ragazzi, ci vediamo !
