hey guys do you guys like to have your guitar slung down low or really high on your waist?

i kinda always wondered cause when i first started playing guitar my first guitar was a les paul copy and i bought a strap and i got it where it was slung really low like jimmy page when he plays and my intention was not to slung it that low but back then i never ever new how to adjust the strap haha  . so when i was more experienced and i played for a year one day when i was playing with my friend and he asked me how can u play that low? and i told him the story and he showed me how to adjust the strap finally and when i setted the strap higher it felt wierd and i couldnt play right so i adjusted it back really low and now im so use to playing it that way.

I play sitting down all the time and use the strap to keep the guitar from sliding down my leg so I guess if I ever played in a band it would be at that hight which is very high.

You should adjust it to the way you are used to playing.

Now if I were a certain female bass player pictured on this forum I would consider lowering the guitar to avoid trauma to the chest area.

I myself feel I might have damaged my ribs leaning over an acoustic in my younger days. The switch to a strat has alleviated this considerably.

As a fat 45-year-old, I would look beyond pathetic if I went for the low-slung look. My strap is adjusted to hold my guitar at the same height as it is when it sits in my lap, thus making it virtually the same to play whether I'm sitting or standing. But I've seen guys at the local blues jam who have theirs practically up in their armpits. I guess there's no wrong answer--just whatever works for you. 8)

i've been on on the planet for 51 years, and have been playing guitar sitting down until about a year ago... so, i'm with the guys who like to have their guitar in that general area. i'm not in it to "look cool"... if i hit the right notes at the right time, that's cool enough for me :)

I wear my guitar higher up. Don't like it to low.

Low, The upper arch of a strat sits just below my belt buckle, the trem cavity sits right over the good parts. What would power stance be without a low-slung guitar. My Jag and Jazzmaster tend to sit a little higher, but not much.
