I just brought home my new Marshall Haze 40. It is quite the amp and I am very happy with it thus far.

I will post a pic once I learn how.

Congrats, why Marshall? Aren't they kind of pricey?

I'm a fan too but can't afford it.

I got so excited that I got the picture o post I forgot to write. Sorry the picture is fuzzy, my eyesight stinks. I bought the Haze because of the sound - both clean and overdrive. It sounds beautiful! I am not an effect guy and probably won't use more than the reverb, but the delay is quite nice. The price.......I paid under $700.00 USD including tax.....how do you like them apples?? I will keep you updated as my discovery progresses........

I'm curious. Where is this amp manufactured? I know most Marshall amps are made in the U.K.

I think all marshall valve amps are uk made. That the AVTS and MG's are chinese. No conclusive evidence of that unless owners want to chip in. It should be on the underside of the chassis, visible without taking the chassis out of the enclosure.

Hey Niki,
I have a Marshall Valvestate AVT 50 from about 6 or 7 years ago and it was made in the U.K. Maybe the later ones were made in China and thats why I was curious about the Haze. I always thought the MG's didn't quite nail the Marshall tone, although they don't necessarily sound bad, just different.

Well i said my belief was unfounded. Cheers for putting me right lads.

Gonna have to get my head out now and dismantle it. I cant think of a marshall amp that doesnt have a good sound in it. The MG was the shimmering clean, the AVT is like my JCM the clean channel pushed to the point of blowing up sounds great. Cant wait to try the new class5 out.

I saw a demo of the Haze on the Marshall website it sounds like a great amp, shimmering clean tones yet it dirties up real pretty. You got yourself an amp for life.I have 2 Marshalls over 25yrs old and other than occasional tubes they've needed no repairs.

It took and act of god for me to simply post a picture - a Youtube video would be quite the stretch! I see what I can do.

A recent DVD tour of the UK factory shows AVTs coming down the line, and one I bought a couple of years ago certainly says Made in England on it.

The MGs started off in India and were then moved elsewhere because of quality control issues - do I remember that right?

And as stated above the Haze is made in India, I believe.

Not that I give a monkeys which piece of soil something is made on, but my TSL came from the glittering wonderland that is Bletchley...

Cheers - C

Update on the Haze....

One week and so far so good. The Haze is my second "real" amp that I have owned (the first was a Randall RG75).

I have played mostly through my Washburn HB30 hollowbody. I have found a beautiful clean mixing both the neck and bridge pickup (think ES335) and a warm dirty tone that is coats the air in a milky sound - using the bridge pickup. The pups are Washburn made and although they sound fairly good I am changing them out soon for a Pearly Gates in the bridge and an Alnico Pro in the neck (looking forward to a greater richness to the hollowbody)........also, I am using the digital reverb which is pleasing to my ear.

The Fender TC90 Telecaster (soapbar pups) sounds just like a Tele should but a bit warmer when using both pups and a nice twang using the bridge pup. The pups on the Fender are of higher quality and are "hotter" in their delivery. Again, the Fender sounds stellar!

The effects sound nice especially the delay but I have not really used them much. I am kind of a minimalist. Clean and dirty- those are the choices I like....not too complicated.

Lastly, I am not a amplifier specialist but using the Randall as a point of reference and the multiple amps tried out in stores I am very, very pleased with the sound and performance of the Haze so far. No mechanical or electrical problems to speak of. It is wonderful to listen to my guitar running through a nice sounding amp.
