Any suggestions for a good image quality camcorder, preferable a miniDV format that has firewire and external microphone connection at around $250-$350 price range? I need it be Mac compatible as I use iMovie exclusively. I'm currently using the iSight, the webcam on my Macbook laptop and it isn't really that good, specially for low light capturing. I have a JVC GR-DA30, its great with macs and has the features I need, but only problem is I can't turn off the internal microphone, as I use a Shure SM57 with a M-Audio Fastrack USB interface to mic my amps. Any suggestions?

Looks good you just need better lighting.

Try consumer report then price watch and find your deal.

It all depends on what you are going to use it for so check out the photography mags at the grocery.
