What about Starlight Express? Didn't they release Afternoon Delight over 25 years ago?

As a previous poster said maybe just call it The Music Hall. It really seems that they are making it more of a marketing/money making machine (like the Super Bowl) then a tribute to the pioneers of R&R.

well come on guys, of course LL Cool J should be in here. the yuppies and teeny boppers don't really know who The Hollies are, and couldn't give a damn about Genesis because some of that early prog. rock is too difficult for their 2-watt brains to handle.

so as a result, the committee had to find a "popular" artist who everyone relates to so that the event will get more publicity and make a profit.

seriously, who really CARES about music anyway? especially when it doesn't stuff someone's pockets with green?

what's for dinner stray?

haha no really, you know what? i gave up getting upset over this BS. i lost hope in the world society of today. i just focus my energy on maintaining the level of culture in my own soul. if these puppets today don't care about culture, that's their problem. whatever man. i dont really do the TV thing anymore anyway. pop culture today is so stale and bland. its like living in a plastic factory.

It is also a crime that these guys are not in there ...

Yes
and the Moody Blues

Both of these bands have been around since the '60s with decades of great music provided. What a crime ...

Donna Summer started out as a backup singer for Three Dog Night. This led her to meeting a couple of producers that promoted and marketed her quite well.

She has received five Grammy Awards, placed a Top Forty hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in every year from 1976 ("Love to Love You Baby") to 1984 ("There Goes My Baby").

She also is the first female artist to have four #1 singles in a 13-month period, and the first female artist to have five Billboard Hot 100 Top Ten hits in a calendar year and was the first artist to score three consecutive number-one double albums.

The music biz is what it is....

Mike, thanks, I always thought she was just a tough chick with a sexy voice, it don't rock and roll more than that, does it?

The Dave Clark 5 definitely deserves to be there, they were on the crest of the wave when the British Invasion happened and songs like Glad All Over and Bits and Pieces are definitely pure driving classic rock and roll.I guess that Lady Gag Gag is appalled that she didn't get a look in,the way things are going maybe next year. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has become a laughable farce,it's time that they packed it in or put in a new screening commitee.BTW how do they decide who gets in?Obviously their criteria must be very vague.

ya know dude, i dont even bother watching the Grammys or the RNR Hall of Fame things anymore, b/c its all commercialized Rolling Stone magazine bull****. Thats all, just commercialized crap, ive heard that its nothing special visiting it, the history of Atlantic Records stops at '79, its now the RNR Hall of Shame, so im glad some really good rock bands arent in there, cuz i dont want Rush to be next to a pic of LL Cool J or Grandmaster Flash. I mean we've got Rolling Stone who rated Angus Young #89 as a guitarist and Cobain at 11, they go by popularity not by influence and impact, thats why I dont pay attention to it anymore, b/c its C-R-A-P, its a shame too, so many influential artists out there that being beaten by crap/rap artists than actual musicians who sit for hours and put together pieces of music than just spit in a microphone, copy somebody else's music and remix it, and then glamorize violence and sex, like i said before, thats why i dont bother with it anymore

When they let Madonna in I knew it was all over. They should have closed the doors after the first inductees (only after adding the Beatles, the Stones & Hendrix).

Look kids, LL Cool J is NOT rock, Donna Summer (who is a great singer) is NOT rock. ABBA is NOT rock!

What in the heck is wrong with the world today! ARGGGHH!

Here's how it should be (in no particualr order):
Chuck Berry
Little Richard
Bo Diddley
Louis Jordan
Jerry Lee Lewis
Ray Charles
Elvis Presley
Buddy Holly
Fats Domino
James Brown
Beatles
Rolling Stones
Jimi Hendrix
Booker T & the MG's
*slam*
doors closed!

Well was just reading who made the cut for induction for the 2010 class

Well it is looking like the hall is deffinetly running out of steam as this is becoming the norm to include a Rapper or someone that has as much to do with R&R as I do with NASA. This group will be combined with a holdover pool that includes/
ABBA
The Chantels
Donna Summer
The Stooges
Laura Nyro
Darlene Love

Well yes I can pool five of these artist but why does my gut tell me that LL Cool J or Donna Summer are going to get in. They had a great idea that came to fruition that has turned into a joke and a popularity contest, as there are still great artist that have gotten passed over and now it seems they will never get in. And if one member can make a case for LL or Donna that has some substance As God is my judge if you ever come to or are in N.Y Dinner is on me.

A lot of people have been upset in recent years that some of the recent inductees have been from R&B, Motown, and Hip-Hop...

Well, if you feel that way, than what do you think about Miles Davis, Chet Atkins, James Burton, Curtis Mayfield, Etta James, Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong, Les Paul, and Carl Perkins (to name a few) who are not "rock n' rollers" being in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame???

What people seem to not realize is that while it is called the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, they often induct non-rock musicians, like those I have listed, who may have had a huge influence on the genre even though they may not be a part of the genre.

Granted LL Cool and Donna Summer may not be as much of an influence over several genres or styles like some of the others I have mentioned, but people act like the Hall of Fame has just recently started adding non-rock acts as inductees, when they have pretty much done that from the very beginning....
