I'm also disappointed with many of the selections over the recent years. It seems like it's more about marketing and politics than honoring music legends.

Does anyone know what criteria is used to be nominated?

That is all it says:

"To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination"

Should I assume the other deciding factors are entirely political?

Oh you know it is coming, after all it's only "right". And if he isn't inducted soon he will just storm the stage at the ceremony and complain his way into being inducted.

Tweedcase is, and we've already setup a day and time. If you're buying, we'll include you....................even if not.

All right! I think the Partridge Family is nearing the 25 year mark! They're a shoe in.

Let us not forget that LL Cool J is following Run-DMC into the Rock Hall. I can't say that I understand how that is rock and roll.

Here's an idea, build a rap hall of fame, a pop hall of fame, and a just-included-because-she's-a-girl hall of fame near the rock hall of fame and induct people who actually deserve it into the R&R hall of fame.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that SRV wasn't inducted back in 2008. Of course I'm very bias, but I think I (and everyone else who's posted in this thread so far with other bands like Yes and Rush) are right. What about Buddy Guy? He's alive, isn't that one of the main reasons they induct people? So they can give a concert and acceptance speech? And Buddy had much more to do with the development of rock music than LL Cool J did. He practically invented Jimi Hendrix. It's just ridiculous... /end rant

i've been to the hall of fame. it is a great one time experience. as a guitarist, i was thrilled to see some of the famous axes on display.

i do, however, think it is time to remove the"rock and roll" from the name, and just make it a music hall of fame. some of these inductees are so far from r&r that it's not funny

donna summer- great, but not rock and roll

dave clark 5- this fan of british invasion says they earned it.

i could go on with this list, but i think i made my point.

zarine202 keeps re-visiting these older threads and is giving me Deja-Vu.

Until Link Wray (Rumble) is inducted, I couldn't care less.

Come on now guys nobody screams Rock and Roll like LL Cool J. We all remember dancing to "I need Love" with the girls back in the early 90's so let's not pretend that we hate LL.
