Anyone used this??

Is it worth is? Any problems? Any alternatives?

and is it just expensively packaged fine abrasive paper? (what we call wet'n'dry in the UK)

Hi Paul, I bought it, not long back actualy. Its a decent thing but i wouldnt buy it again. Its literaly five sheets of very mildly metal polished impregnated paper for £6. Bit of a rip off. The fretboard guard is useless, the slot for med jumbo is too big for med jumbo frets, the one for vintage is too big for vintage and too small for med jumbo frets. Personaly i use roll of decorators masking tape 1" wide stuff, from wilko's and a jar of brasso. I get the brasso impregnated wadding cloth thing. Works far better for polishing and works out way cheaper. You'll get 5 treatments out of the planet waves system. To date I've done 37 polish's with 1 tin of brasso and 3 rolls of masking tape. It still hasnt equalled the price of the planet waves system makes for lighter work too.

One thing on the brasso, its worth taking the neck off to do the job. You can get a black residue building up in the neck pocket if the masking tape isnt absorbant enough.

Thanks Niki, that's pretty much as I expected

And thanks for the Brasso/masking tips - sounds like a winner. 8)

No kidding Paul its a good one, as with all new things just be gentle and minimalistic till you get your confidence up. You dont want the brasso getting on the neck if you can help it. It wont do any damage unless you rub it in, but better safe than sorry. My new neighbour has a unused crafter guitar he dropped round earlier for me to go over. Its frets were as dull as a wet wednesday in worcester. A polish up later it was a whole different guitar.
Well worth doing mate and not that difficult.

In truth i log what i do for others. That way when they come back i can get the guitar how they like it with a minimum of head scratching.
