What next?

How about Gibson making a cheapy Hendrix-branded Strat??

I kid you not.
A secret source wrote:
The Jimi Hendrix estate, as represented by the Authentic Hendrix umbrella company, which is run by members of the 60s rock guitarist's family, has licensed Gibson Guitars to produce a range of entry-level guitar packages. Each guitar will have the Jimi Hendrix signature and logo on it and will come with "special added value components" in each specific package.

The top-of-the-range Experience pack comes with "all the necessary accessories and some fun extras, including a Hendrix signature Voodoo Child amplifier and a Foxey Fuzz pedal". The pack also includes an instructional DVD and a USB drive containing exclusive Hendrix media content. On top of this, the packs include a couple of unusual items, such as a Hendrix inspired tie-dyed tee-shirt and bandana.

A lot of the peripherals are left out of the other two packs, with the budget Little Wing package containing a ten-Watt Max Feedback amp.

Authentic Hendrix is responsible for controlling licensing authority for Jimi Hendrix products worldwide and is 100 per cent owned by the Hendrix family. The press release announcing the new guitars stated that "Authentic Hendrix’s mission is to oversee the name, likeness and image of Jimi Hendrix, known around the world as the legendary guitarist and musician and who some call the greatest guitarist of our time."

Red I love that photo and had never seen it in color . Are those Danelectros out already? Well I guess the estate is going for the jugular and might have brought Gene Simmons on as an adviser. Whats next Jimi chewing gum.lol I have to think though that Gibson would never cross that line as they would look ridicules and desperate to even try to make a Strat copy plus it would be a giant legal battle that I could never see Gibson coming close to winning. To be honest Jimi belongs at Fender but as I dont know all the details I will not comment right now, but I think Niki had said his sisters demands were so off the chart they sent her packing and I guess Gibson gave her what she wanted which just looks so desperate to me as no one thinks of Hendrix and Gibson. I mean my 11 year old could tell you what ax Jimi played.

The only thing a guitar company is not allow to copy on a Strat. is the headstock shape. Just take a look at Leo's G&L guitars. Plus all the others that have been made and they are not all junk in fact many are better.

If gibson copy the strat they will lose all credibility as a builder. Its like them admitting the other side was right all along. I mean my god they make some of the most recognisable guitars in the world, then go and copy the other sides design. I just cant fathom that one, I think they'll stick to the V or maybe the 3 pickup white SG. Now that was a damn pretty guitar.

Well step sister has scraped the bottom of the barrel in money-grabbing schemes to get rich off the name of the "STEP" brother she hardly knew.Jimi must be hitting 10,000 RPMs in his grave.I don't mean to be disrespectful of Jimi putting it that way but as a musician who owes so much to Jimi I am outraged by this vulgar and mercenary ploy to capitilize on this brilliant man's fame.

Bluestube if you look at the heel of this guitar

Image

Its clearly a bolt on. Not a set neck like these.

Image
Not also the insistance on the neck pickup being directly where a 24th fret would land on the factory guitar pic.

the possitioning of the neck pickup on the musicradar example is further towards the bridge

Also notice the other great gibson myth of increased neck to body contact over bolt on necks is dispelled with this picture.

Image

Theres about 1cm by 5.5 cm or 55mm2 increase in size.Image

For an idea of how my reaction was to reading that article, I shall quote Marvin the Martian:

Quote:
"Oh! That wasn't a bit nice! You have made me very angry! Very angry indeed!" (pacing back and forth, huffing and seething in rage)

That guitar's a real mongrel mix and match, and Iwonder what, if anything, Rudy Pensa's going to say about that headstock design?
The copy is foolishly written. How could these collaborators have any idea about what Jimi would want in a guitar other than the one he essentially trademarked himself with......a reversed Fender Stratocaster. 8)
