Remember where blues came from; genuinely good people feeling genuinely bad and expressing themselves musically, usually on cheap or homemade instruments and with little or no musical training.

Often poverty-stricken, imprisoned, injured, love-lost, mis-fortuned, lost, afraid, anguished, hungry, desperate, betrayed, hopeless.

That modern musicians use the Blues as a mere "form" and means of showing off with expensive gear and affectations is nauseating to this picker. Musical equivalent of buying pre-faded / distressed jeans and shirts.

Gag. Projectile vomit. Poseurs.

Recommendation, learn some classic rock, some pop, some jazz, some classical, some world, some folk...Just one opinion. PLAY that electric guitar!

I tell you what, my 3/4 size beat up Yamaha Acoustic that I got for free sounds way better for acoustic blues than my Mom's $300 Ibanez does. SRV's most famous guitars, Number 1 and Lenny were both used and cost less than $400. Jeff Healey played a Squier. It just goes to show that it has as much to do with the player as the gear. Not sure how that relates to the subject of the thread, but this is something that has always amazed me so I thought I'd point it out. :)

Word. Just play, figure it out what suits you best, play everything, develpo yourself.

Expensive equipment is nice, but doesn't make the music-you do.
