Yeah, thanks SBLS,
This is a selection of my library stuff that I recorded back in the early 90's and it was distributed to various territories worldwide.
It was great fun doing this kind of thing, a change from rock bands and I'm still drawing royalties from these.
I like to do this kind of music when I want a change from total guitar stuff.
I'll post some of that when I have some available.
Cheers. :D

Thanks strawhat, glad you like. :D
Library music can actually be quite awkward to write, we are always told to keep the melody content down to a minimum, so as not to detract from the visuals. Being backing music it has to melt very much into the background and library stuff can take many forms.
For instance one chord, held on a keyboard for any length of time and almost without being noticed, creating a mood. Tension, emotion etc.
Some of our pieces are so short they become simply sound effects
We are usually given a certain length of time to write too and a work title. I've still got in my drawer here an actual communication from my publisher, I will copy it here to give you an idea of how it all works.
In a phone call one Monday morning I got :
Give me a mix of 20,30,40,50 secs. 1 min, 1.30 and 2 mins on these.

Threatening/danger/eerie/mysterious/chases/cops-agents-spies/horror/abstract/weird/menace/ghosts/sombre/morbid/suspence/tension/escape/stalk/sacrificial march/nightmare/open grave/the evil dead/fright/lost dreams/disturbed spirits/the curse/
A cassette on my desk next weekend.
So we had to work pretty quick, just go for it.

The selection I put up here is from easier listening albums.
Travel, Activity, Leisure etc and the library is quite extensive now.
Hope that explains it a little and if you ever want to get into this kind of thing it's good fun and greatly expands your own musical horizons.

As you can tell I've got my internet connection up and running again.
Thanks for your kind comments strawhat.
Cheers. 8)

Really nice work Rhumba . Just my opinion but pieces like Alpine Run and Lullaby of Greece could be great film score pieces,as I listen I can just about visualize a scene in a movie with these as the soundtrack. High Flyers deffinetly sounds like it could of been a hit 15 years earlier during the disco craze. I was also wondering if you ever had lyrics put to Toy Room another nice piece of music. There really is a great visual aspect to your pieces and writing. Excellent work and am looking foward to some more past gems you have.

Thanks straycat, your opinions and comments are much appreciated.
Alpine Run: This piece was written for a leisure/activities cd and as the title suggests, it is intended to depict alpine sports ( ski-ing, bobsleigh, etc )
I always try to put a lot of care and attention into my work, for instance, as I'm writing, I record onto cassettes and test the music against a video of the required subject, to see if it works, or matches.
In this case, an Olympic skier moving down the slopes.
I know what you mean. It has been said before that it sounds a bit like something from a James Bond movie.
Lullaby of Greece was written for a travel/holiday cd. I hope I captured the mood of Greece for that.
High Flyers: Intended as an aircraft display backing track. You know? loopinig the loop, that kind of thing. Again I tested this with a video of the Red Arrows display team. I think it worked.
The Toy Room: No, I have never thought about lyrics. I just write the music and when it's all done and recorded, move on to the next job, one gets into that kind of mind-set.
As a point of interest. Alpine Run is by far my most used work and Japan my most popular territory.
Again thanks so much for your interest and encouraging words.
Cheers. 8)

Yes I do have more, I'll try and sneak them into the forum when my publisher is not looking, he owns half the copyrights schhhhhhhh.
No Ali, Jeff Beck rules

Thanks for your kind words and keep up the good work on that guitar of yours. 8)
Cheers
