He did play the V occaisionally, we all know that, although it is not what we hear predominantly in his recordings. Stamping the V as a signature guitar seems to be pushing it somewhat. Nice pictures though. A Jimi replica Strat seems more appropiate as authetic Hendrix, even lefty upside down for righties.

[quote="Hoeycow"]What the hell is that about?

I never cease to be impressed by the intense emotional responses to some of these posts, or the issues central to them. Take it easy, you'll bust a gut on this one..........and not out of necessity either.

Never found a Flying V to be playable in my hands anyway and if Hendrix truly loved them, history would have said so. This venture may yet turn out to be another "Lenny".

Res ipsa loquitor.

Hendrix V would compliment one of the Hendrix strats nicely.

I prefer the look of Albert King's "Lucy". Like the traditional headstock. never cared for that 'arrowhead' on the Gibson. I remember reading an article about Dan Erlewine that he built that guitar for Albert.

Don't be surprised if Guitar Hero has something in the works with this. Think about it. A deal with both Gibson and the Hendrix estate to put out a Guitar Hero Jimi Hendrix edition with Jimi playing a Gibson brand. It could happen.

Except Gibson works with Rock Band now, as evidenced by their presence in the RB:Beatles.

I stated in an earlier post on this topic that I thought Gibson or Epi. made a Strat copy. They did!In 1989 the Showcase Edition U-2 Gibson Super Strat .There are some very good pictures on eddievegas.com and there is also Guitarville by Vegas. It's a wonder they didn't get sued or forced to stop production(maybe they did). This may be the basis for the Hendrix Gibson and not the V as some are speculating.

A Jimi Hendrix Gibson Flying V would be okay ... but what will make it special or different from a 1967-styled Flying V?

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

After reading through the thread, who cares what Gibson does? They are in business to make money, no different than Fender. Relax and enjoy the fact that Jimi is known more as a strat man than anything else. That should suffice!

Play the game. Fender, Gretsch, Rick and Gibson guitars all show up among others. There are Strats and LPs and SGs and even a Jaguar very present in the game, with the Fender and Gibson headstocks both clearly visible.

We've actually got one of those in the store I work in, on commission sale for someone. In all honesty it actually doesn't play well (granted, that doesn't matter that much as it just needs a setup), and it doesn't actually sound much different from a normal V.

It's quite something to behold, but it's really a collector's item for sure. You can't even sit with the damn thing

How well does that tremolo work?

I've always shied away from that type of trem.
