I gotta tell you. She sounds real nice.
On the other hand, at 40, you've almost reached escape velocity.

Hey, you can always get engaged and see how that feels.
I just know the misery of being together is way worse than the misery of
being alone.

If she's irreplacable, then you won't, um, replace her.
I'm with the best woman I've ever been involved with now.
Thank God I never married the lunatics I was with in the past.

Take your time.

Been married for 21 years and life is good. Known my wife for seven years and dated for five years before we got married. Meet her in college. Started out as friends and progress from there.

So radiohead, how much do you really know your girlfriend of less than one year? Marriage is a big step and can end in a really bad note. What can she gain if she marry you and vice versa? Are you both well to do already, money wise and so on? Look out for gold diggers just MHO. I've seen it before with friends jumping to marriage too quickly. A large age difference can be a problem. If she is much younger than you......then watch out.

Like what was already mentioned..."take your time" specially getting to know each other. Sex may be great, but Great sex does not usually keep a marriage.

People should never ask the internet about these things...

You've just gotta think, take yourself off for a few days alone, think about things. Then the answer will come to you

If you really truly love her and she feels the same for you i say go for it. I've been married going on 15 years now and i'm only 36 :D . I think it's the best thing i could have done and i have'nt missed anything from doing it. Just don't let the gifts hook you into marriage if you're not ready because being married is alot of work because you get out of it what you put into it. Good Luck :)

Hi Jay. So that explains why you have to do your Forum posting in the daytime when you should be working, huh?

Your employer is more understanding than your wife...

Hey, if I remember your age right you're nearly ready for your mid-life crisis. I think it's going to be a biggy...!

Cheers - C

Reality check: The fact that you are asking a bunch of anonymous strangers in an internet forum, advice on a most serious, life altering decision which involves another person as well, implies in the strongest terms that you are not ready for it. As always, this is merely my opinion, YMMV.

Mid life crisis! BigJay is that why you've built a Kickassocaster and joined a band? :)

You've got the chronology just about right!

Unless you become either a Mormon or an arabian prince, then you can have as many as you like :?
