I don't have the money for it right now, but i'll be saving up. I'm looking for an American Standard Strat, 3-tone sunburst with a rosewood neck.

The thing is, i want one with the S-1 switch which, as you know, is not available on standards anymore. What year's model would i need to get?

Also, i'm deciding between the standard and deluxe. Would the deluxe be worth the extra $650? (guitar center)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you a beginner? Is this your first guitar?

You could buy the AmStd and swap out the pot circuitry for the S-1. Might cost $100 for the S-1, but you'll save a little money on the AmStd.

You could buy a Mexican made Stratocaster for $500 or less and swap out the circuits and save even more.

Or you could build your own guitar to your exact specs.

no, not a beginner. i've been playing a squier strat for about three years or so, and i upgraded my amp to a hot rod deville last year. i could definately use a new guitar.

and thanks a lot. i'll take your suggestions into account.
