Wow this is really getting crazy. Was just floating through a few forums, and each had topics of guys getting burnt buying guitars that are Chinese frauds. So they show this site WWW.BAZAAREGUITAR.COM and you cant believe your eyes-Gibsons-Fenders-PRS-Ibanez- and Epiphone fakes for $300 each. This is really getting out of hand. They have Fender-Deluxes-Standards-Artist Series-Hot Vintage-Aerodine bottom line you name it they have it. The amazing part is a lot of guys want to buy them and swap pups or are saying for the money they look great=which equals guys with some money and the wrong thing on there minds are going to f$$k a lot of unknowing people. Just check out the Fenders because they got much better at doing them that if nothing is done there is going to be a giant disaster. One guy from the UK was saying a store near him was selling them but as Chinese models. So what good does that do the 15 year old kid who tells his parents he is getting the deal of a lifetime and buys an Eric Johnson strat for a grand. These axes look to good.

Hello Straycat113,

Your link did not work for me.

But on this counterfit topic
it really is a serious problem.
And they're only getting better.
I was once confident I could spot
a fake but quality is getting so good
if I got taken I might never know.

It's not only the chinese though all those
folks building their own custom partscasters
and - slapping a bogus decal on the headstock.

I guess things arent gonna get better so being an
educated consumer is the best line of defense.

Cheers.

Hey Straycat,

Looks like another incarnation of some of
other sites that have already been shut down
or turned off. I know earlier this year
Gibson shut a big one down.
It's a viscious cycle.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reitteration on this. We've had similar discussions before but it can't be restated enough. All kinds of pathways are being explored to defraud the unsuspecting consumer.

Not that I approve of selling anything as a fake or labeling something that isn't the real thing and i 'm not trying to stir up anything but I guess we should all have enough knowledge to know that Fender or Gibson will never sell any electric guitar for less than $500 new. I know to try it before i buy it and if i like it the name on the headstock won't really be that much of a factor in my decision to buy or not. In a way if the quality is that good it's a nice break for those of us that can't afford a couple thousand dollars for an electric. I just hate it for the companies that have good standing and have made a name in quality that could be hurt because of these fakes.

"Caveat emptor," as true now as in ancient Rome.

Buyer, beware.

There are trademark, copyright, and patent infringement issues here aside from the fact that representing a product as a Fender or a Gibson, notwithstanding the quality is outright fraudulent. If its that good, you can call it a "Shmatta" and it will sell.....though I doubt to my grandmother if she didn't like the material  :P

And I liked "2008 FENDER NEW GOOD ELECTRICITY GUITAR001". Cute.

Some of the models are laughably easy to spot as fakes. There's some wildly wrong headstocks to be seen.

But there's others that I can't tell from the real thing, at least in those little photos.

'Course, the price is a clue. But then the world's full of folks who don't much care whether it's genuine or not, just so long a it says Fender/Gibson/Ibanez/etc at one end. Or maybe if it just makes a tollerable sound.

It's the '70s all over again, and the solution will be something similar.

Cheers - C

Wow, those fakes really are getting difficult to spot, though I believe the headstock angle might be a little shallow on this "Gibson". Still I'm sure it could fool quite a few people. (And I include myself in that few).

Its the new Tokai =/

Dont worry, Fender/Gibson will find them eventually and throw some lawyers at them.

Its just gonna be exactly like what happened to Tokai in the 70s/80s.
