Since so much talk has been guitar and gear related lately I figured I would put these words of wisdom from that amazingly gifted axman and a guy with a great sense of humor talking about how he addresses gear while doing his Fender Clinics.
"I havent met a custom wound pickup or an expensive new old stock tube that can compare to hours in the woodshed or the bandstand for actually making you sound unique and extraordinary, but gear can certainly make those pursuits more enjoyable.

From this months Guitar Player Magazine. Also a great and worthy three page tribute to George Fullerton. The price of the magazine is worth it just to see the one of a kind personal 54/56 Stratocaster made with flamed Ash wood his father picked out. It features a special set back control panel and rare sunburst headstock.=Guitar Porn at its finest

Good on Greg.

I agree with Greg completely. 8)

You can't buy your way into being a good musician. You have to pay your dues. Once you have done that, you may enjoy a custom pickup or top-of-the-line guitar, but you will still sound like YOU. If I could go down to GC and buy a Jeff Beck Strat and sound like him, I would go get it right now and pay sticker price.
