Amazing list so far ... beyond impressive!

A couple more:

Tab Benoit - Fever for the Bayou is accessible

Bonnie Raitt - "Give" for one example; "Best of" (her choices) for a 2nd

Grant Green - Grant's First Stand, Grant Stand (a kind of "best of" sorta)

Jimmy Thackery - "Guitar" (a "best of" all instrumental)

Joyce Cooling - "This Girl's Got to Play" -- her evolution from more "fusion like" jazz into smooth jazz

Debbie Davies -- All I Found (and others); who says women can't crank it and bend those strings!

Charlie Christian - "Original Guitar Hero" (with Benny Goodman) -- you might call it Big Band or early jazz. Charlie Christian is one of the bridges between guitar as rhythm or folk only and a lead/melody instrument.

Joe Bonamassa -- So It's Like That (and more recent work) he gets better all the time and you can't beat the pure blues rock.

Al di Meola -- almost anything -- his technical mastery is profound yet he never loses sight of the "feel" behind the music

This Was - Jethro Tull (Mick Abrahams plays this first bluesy album by Tull but was replaced by Martin Barre before the next album... which brings us to the second in this list)

Stand Up - Jethro Tull ("We Used To Know" is one of the first songs I heard where I had to grab the album jacket, vinyl in those days, and look to see who it was on guitar... Martin Barre is awesome!)
