ok i want some suggestions here. :D
think of an album that someone should definitely own & write it down here.

lets make a record library with the best albums of all years !

it doent need to have to do only with the music.
for example think of the meaning of the lyrics, the quality of the music, the popularity & this kind of stuff.

my suggestions:

never mind the bollocks-sex pistols - a historic cd even if musically
trash-alice cooper - the music is "delightful"
fear of the dark-iron maiden - some of the songs show the humanitarian point of view we all should have while others are pure metal
number of the beast-iron maiden - spectacular and diverse songwriting, great vocals and is one of the best metal albums ever
american idiot-green day - a wake up call although billie joe cant get over 3chord songs !

ok thats all or maybe ive forgotten something.

your best ? :D

Some more albums/cd's to have in your collection, at least they are in mine:

1: Every Iron Maiden Album
2: Every Metallica Album minus St. Anger
3: Black Sabbath All Ozzy and Dio albums
4: Rush--(I have all their albums) at least from Rush to Distant Early Warning
5: Green Day any album highly recommend American Idiot and Dookie
6: Kiss Destroyer
7: Stevie Ray Vaughn--Texas Flood
8: Jimmi Hendrix -- any album if not all of them
9: Pink Floyd -- any album if not all of them
10: Ramones any and all albums (I just have their greatest hits right now)
11: All Guns & Roses albums from the 80's-90's

and many more but this will already set you back a bit.

I'm going to leave out the sledgehammer obvious stuff like Kind of Blue:

Elvis Costello - Imperial Bedroom (or any of the first 7 albums)
Toy Matinee - Toy Matinee
Lyle Lovett - Pontiac or Joshua Judges Ruth
Randy Newman - Sail Away
Joni Mitchell - Blue or Court And Spark
Gillian Welch - Revival
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
Ben Folds - Rockin' The Suburbs
Jennifer Warnes & Leonard Cohen - Famous Blue Raincoat
Paul Simon - Graceland

I don't think these albums are "important" in any way except that they represent the very highest level of songwriting, performance and production I've heard in the rock era.
