What do you like more, and I would also like to know the pros and cons of each. I've never used humbuckers before, only a couple of times on other guitars. What exactly is the difference in sound? I have a strat, by the way, if it makes any difference.

The name is a clue ''humbucker''. loud, fat, sustain and no hum.
Con's : loud, fat and does not clean up very well when using the volume
pot on the guitar. Sometimes nasal sounding.

Single-coil : clean, articulate, almost human sounding and when using
processing you still hear the strat/tele sound.
Con's : prone to interference, hum, not known for sustain and not a heavy
metal guitar(with SC's).

Just my thought's.....Like them both but prefer SC's.

I prefer single coils, they just have that wonderful growl that humbuckers can't really nail.

the best solution is HSS configuration, you get best of both world from
single coils and humbucker.
the bridge humbucker is more for rock with high gain overdrive
it sounds best with more articulated playing
while you can still get other settings and sounds with the neck and middle single coils.
i test drive a Telecaster once, the bridge single coil is somehow capable of gain gain overdrive and have nice output sound, i guess the Telecaster bridge single coil has a higher output than Stratocaster bridge single coil, but I am not sure....

I vote for one of each!!

I was looking for one guitar that could do both but now have a nice strat and nice gibson, now if I just had any ability I would be set,

I am also starting to think the amp has as much to do with sound as the guitar does,

Agreed. I think everyone should eventually (budget allowing) have an LP and a Strat to cover most all the tonal bases.

And...yeah, your choice of amp has a lot to do with your personal tone.

Dude, the bridge p'up on the Highway One loves gain. Fact is, it can sound metallic as somebody here mentioned if you go light on the gain with the tone nob maxed on 10. Up the gain and it's one happy biting p'up. Also, the bridge p'up on the Highway One likes to be turned down to about 4 on the tone nob. It's still sharp with a fat blues tone.

I agree, too. It's been said that you can get most of the tones you'll ever need with four guitars - Strat, Tele, Les Paul, ES335 - but I think you can cover a lot of ground with just the Strat and the LP. Besides all four will run you about $7,000 !!!

i like them both and they both have their uses. and if you like single coils and high end the burstbucker pros are a nice humbucker. they have all of the humbucker sound but if you fiddle with the tone knob they can have a strat sound or a tele jangle. just my opinion
