Major crash on the Gibson forums yesterday. Pretty much all posts since June 15th have been wiped out along with post counts. Man that sucks. I just hope something like that doesn't happen here.

I see all six (count 'em, six) of my posts are still there. Obviously, I don't go there much. Something just doesn't feel right over there.

+1

It must be the fact that they really like Gibson
J/k, but I'm a Dean/Fender guy.

I have only been there once for a look around and since I have never owned a Gibson I had no interest to return as the topics did nothing for me.A forum I like to hang a bit in is Harmony Central as it is made up of all kinds of guys that play different brands of gear so you get a kind of neutral feedback and see what everyone else thinks of certain companies without any real bias. Plus they post some interesting and entertaining topics.

I tried to get on the Gibson forum yesterday and had to give up because it was too complicated,it kept telling me to change my user name and password and to verify my email account.I gave up after several tries and no one returned my email inquiries on their help line.I guess that means I'm meant to be a totally Fender guy.

Apparently they have one,I only found out yesterday,if anyone else had the trouble I did, frankly it's not worth the bother. On top of that their webmaster didn't reply to my emails. From now on it's Fender all the way.

I can hear them now. My $8000 Gibson is better then your $5000 Gibson cause it cost more.

Just a side note I had a guy on another forum tell me that Fenders were cheap guitars because of the bolt-on neck and that he only played high end Gibsons. Tried to tell him that bolt-ons come in handy because if (worst case) you have a broken neck then you could just replace that. He then goes on to say anyone to treat their guitar in a way to break the neck shouldn't on one. There was just no getting through to him because even after I said accedents do happen. He goes on to say thats way all mine go in their cases after he's done. Though thing can go wrong in their cases to. I guess somepeople are set in their ways.

Like you don't get that here and other Fender related forums? MIA vs. MIA vs. Squire, Custom shop, Signature..........
Everyone would be crying here if this forum crashed and everyone's posts were lost.

Tons of Gibby players play Fenders, PRS, Dano's too. Usually people who speak like that never played professionally. Guitars are tools to professional players. The more tools you have the more versatile you can sound.

A lot of guys here make some pretty childish statements when it comes to Gibson and vise versa. Set neck and bolt on necks are two completely different animals. Yes set neck guitars generally cost more and are more difficult and require more skill to repair. Also the price of Decent Gibby isn't far from the price as a custom shop Fender. Gibsons need much more hand work than any Fender. Even CS Fenders are bolt together guitars. You have $25,000 Fenders as well as Gibsons.

I'll play anything and everything I can get my hands on.

Yeah you have your bickering here too, but not near as much as they have (had?) at the Gibson Forum...unless things have changed there in the past 2 months. I would be pretty upset if this site crashed, and everything was lost...but its not the end of the world. It's not like you get a free CS Fender for 1,000,000 posts or anything.

IMHO, price does not equate to a better guitar.

I agree that I will play anything I can get my hands on, I choose not to handle Gibson. I have owned (key word) 2 and they are just not for me.
