I am at the local used CD store and I pick up Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters - The Colour of Love.

Admittedly I am a bit new to the blues scene but how did I miss this guy??? This is some serious blues. I immediately bought three more CD's - Blues and Ballads, Language of Soul, and Live in Europe.

I have been playing along with all four CD's - the whole household is groovin' to Mr. Earl now.

I Am With You...#7 on the Language of Soul is a nine minute masterpiece.

Ron has had his share of ups and downs, but when he's on, he's one of the best, in my opinion!

I've posted about Ronnie Earl http://www.ronnieearl.com/ several times here, and had posted a review on 'Living in the Light'.

I've been listening to Ronnie since the '82 when he recorded his first solo album 'Smokin'. I also saw him live as well, he showed me how to play Freddie King's 'San Ho Zay' during a break at a club gig in the '80s.

Ronnie suffers from depression, and dependencies connected to his depression.

He finally has come to terms with his illness, and it reflects in the titles and songs on the latest CD.

Hope Radio http://tinyurl.com/mqw6s5, a 'live' in the studio is good, has a companion live DVD http://tinyurl.com/ln7y3w. The DVD is a great video guitar lesson, I learn something new each time I play along with it.

Beaubs if you go through ebay you might be able to find his Hot Licks VHS tape which I had many years ago. They might even have it out now on DVD as they have reissued a lot of those great tapes. It was something like Hot Licks Ronnie Earl-Blues with Soul or something to the likes but you would deffinitly dig it. Ronnie is a native NY and a great player who replaced Duke Robillard in Roomful of blues a killer blues outfit. He has had some dependency problems but I believe he has beaten them. He is just a mellow and cool cat and there is much music of his for you to explore.

It's been re-issued on DVd a couple of years now 'Ronnie Earl: Blues Guitar With Soul' http://www.amazon.com/Ronnie-Earl-Blues-Guitar-Soul/dp/B000BM7YWY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1252783083&sr=1-2.

I highly recommend this DVD, although it's really not for beginners, I still recommend buying it.
