U2 has had their original four members since the late 70s, back when all of them were still teenagers. As Bono is fond of pointing out, being in the band is the first and only job he's ever had.

What about Hank Marvin & The Shadows or The Ventures?

If were ruling out band member deaths then the Ventures have been around since 1958. The original drummer Mel Taylor passed away 1996, and was replaced by his son Mel. More recently Bob Bogle who cofounded The Venutes in 1958 passed away.

The Scorpions have been around since the mid seventies. A couple of changes but basically the same.

Queen NEVER had a line-up change from 1969 when they officially formed to 1991 when Freddie passed on.

I say that's a pretty nice run, don't ya' think?
I only wish Freddie was still here....

[quote="Miami Mike"]After watching the 3-part documentary on the Beatles Anthology, I realized that bandmate's personalities or chemistry is what really keeps a band together more than any other thing.

50 years later, I am in regular contact with guys I did music with in high school. The longest standing relationship began in 1951. He met a girl, he was to ultimately marry, 49 years ago this fall. It was at a house party we all attended.

Providence has been kind.

Aerosmith started out with Joe Perry and another/different guitarist and a Sax player. I have an old bootleg from '72....glad they made the changes!

Both Perry & Whitford left the band in 79/80--although both returend in 84.
But they were replaced--so Aeorsmith hasn't continued with the same line up--and depending on who you believe they did break up after the replacement lineup didn't do so well.

The Scorps have been through several line up changes, only Klaus Meine & Rudolf Schenker are left from the original line up.

They've had three lead guitarists (Michael Schenker, Ulrich Roth-now known as Uli Jon Roth, and Mathias Jabs), and they've had several drummers & bass players, they wouldn't qualify here.

Oh, I also forgot to post this before:

It's always been my one firm belief that the key to success for any band is having the personalities of each member work in harmony. If the band wants to have any hope in sticking together through the good times and the tough times, they need to get along together and have fun.

Edit: Typo

im not sure on the longest but im pretty sure that the misfits are probably the shortest since the've replaced every member of the band about 5 times now, i think even full albums would be completely different members

The ramones had plenty of changes. They changed drummers regularly. The Subterrainian jungle lp was recorded with a drum machine. Dee Dee left just after that album but carried on writing. The main cux of the band was Joey and Johnny who absolutely detested each other after Johnny knicked Joey's girlfriend and married her.

I think the Kinks count. Chemistry can be love or hate. Some of the best bands i've been in I hated the other members and they despised me too.
