Only if I can download them from a Russian music site at 1/10 the normal cost...

Okay, it is probably not the most ethical with respect to royalties and copyright laws, but ... does Paul really need the money??

Only the ones I don't have and/or need replacements for (my copy of Abbey Road skips like a dickens on Come Together and also later tracks)

So does Micheal Jackson still owns the copy right to the Beatles Music? Will MJ get some residuals for these Remastered Beatles Collection?

Because the music business is so complicated, the answer to "does Michael Jackson still own the copyrights" is just as complicated.

Jackson never owned "the rights" to the original recordings. What he did own was 50% of Sony/ATV, which owned the publishing rights to many of the Lennon/McCartney songs (also, a bunch of Bob Dylan songs and many, many others). Any time money was paid for the use of a Beatles song (a cover, a TV use, whatever), the publishing money was split between Sony/ATV and the songwriters. Jackson would earn 50% of Sony's take.

But he never had a personal controlling interest in how the music was used. Use of original recordings would be up to the companies that held the rights to those records (like the infamous use of "Revolution" in a Nike commercial, widely blamed on Jackson but over which he had no control.

Mechanical rights are automatic in the US, and synch rights are negotiated by mid-level grunts at the publishing company, so Jackson never would have made a decision about how a cover version of a song might be used.

But yes, Jackson's estate still holds that interest in Sony/ATV.

Nope and please don't rail on me, but I have never been a Beatles fan. I like several of their songs and they are super talented music geniuses who influenced many artists I listen to. But I've never owned a Beatles album.

Jury's still out, here.

'Have most of the vinyl and have not played it in years.

The whole boxed set of CDs is somewhat intriguing.

NFW on the video game. 'Rather learn to play more of their stuff on a real guitar.

I bought Revolver today, and I have to say it sounds pretty amazing. I listened to my old copy first then the new one, there is a definite difference. I don't know if I'll buy all of them, but it sounds good. I just reminds me how great they were.

I've put the stereo box set on my Amazon wish list, but I don't think I'll be buying it on my own. 8)

When the first versions came out a big deal was made that George Martin (the original producer) oversaw the mixes, so I was surprised to see that these are somehow supposed to be closer to the original vinyl releases.
Also, weren’t the later albums released in stereo originally?
I know my old LP copy of Sgt. Pepper is.
