Having purchased the albums as they were released the first time around, then replacing them with the cd versions, I can't get behind the notion of NEW !! IMPROVED!!

Am I wrong?

I would not say you're wrong but I'll probably buy them! Maybe I can keep this set hidden from my children!

For most people who already own the CDs, it's probably not worth it. But there are plenty of audiophiles out there who will probably excited about the 'new and improved' versions...

I love the Beatles, but I've already got all the Beatles music I'll ever need. I'd rather spend the money on brand new music -- or new gear... :)

No, but I did buy Rock Band : Beatles.

The mono sets are very tempting however.

I might buy Sgt. Peppers simply because I lost my old copy, but that's about it >_> Never really been a true Beatlemaniac >_>

I've heard those songs too many times. I'd rather listen to Cheap Trick versions.

I've seen posters at various stores about "Beatles-Rock Band", however is that just CD or is it a video game? I think I've seen comments about both.

The video game should be fun. And I'm sure the new remastered CDs sound great, but I just can't justify buying them when I already have all the CDs plus my parent's vinyl.

No, but I already have all the beatles albums, the actual records. Something about vinyl that seems to sound really nice to me.

I'm interested in the boxed set. It not only contains all the CD's, but there's supposed to be a DVD in there as well. And there's some other audio content in there.

Is it worth it? I think it's worth it for a hardcore Beatles' fan and collector. I too, have all the LP's on vinyl, as well as 45's in picture sleeves. It's hard to explain what happened to my little 11 year old brain the first time I saw them on television.

Now... Beatles Rock Band is a different thing. I don't think I'm getting that. I don't have a console anymore, so I would need to get a XBox or a PS3 and the game... and I'd just have to get all 4 of the controllers. Not because I'd use all four, but because they are replicas of George's Gretsch, Lennon's Rickenbacker, McCartney's Hofner and Ringo's Ludwig drums with their logo on it... see? The collectors' brain is already kicking in.

My friend got the whole thing on his iPod, and we plugged it into my amp and compared the sounds. This is what we found:

The new Beatles cd's sound warmer and softer, so less crisp. It was still a great sound.

The old Beatles cd's sounded sharper and colder. How can the Beatles sound sharp and cold? I don't really know, but that's how I'd describe it.

I won't be getting it. :]

No, I'm not buying any. I already have all the stuff and I stopped falling for the "new and improved" crap a long time ago.
